My understanding is that the warranty follows the watch. I would be buying from a respected AD from whom I have bought 5 other non Patek watches.

Patek 5396?

Hi all, I’m seriously considering buying a 5396G annual calendar. I’m concerned a bit about legibility and am interested any forum members general opinions of this piece. Also opinions on the breguet numerals vs the stick indices, as well as bracelet vs s...

It's a good choice for an AC, with no legibility problems...here's the R version that I have (this one is still in the catalog, the Breguet numeral dial has just been discontinued):

It's not a particularly popular piece, so you should also be able to get a good discount from your AD. Cheers ...

It obviously depends on a number of factors, including your relationship with the AD, how long they've had the 5396 for (or how easily the can fetch it), etc.

But given that this is not a very popular reference (no AC is, except for the 5740), I think you should be able to negotiate a good 15%. I see you are in the US, so the current MSRP for both R and G with this dial is $47970.

Thanks again.

Can you speak to breguet numerals compared to stick indices? I’m undecided on that. You went with the stick indices, any insight as to why? I’m actually considering pre owned pieces, with the opportunity to buy a piece that was bought and then returned wi...

If the watch is in the condition you describe and the dealer is reliable, then I think it’s a good deal, or at least totally in line with market prices.

The only downside I would see is that your name Is not in the warranty, but the discount is excellent for a piece that’s essentially new. The breguet dial just did not exist when I bought the 5396, I just checked and it was in 2011. Cheers.

Thanks for your insights.

I have the WG stick white dial and it is very readable. I think dark dial with WG hands can be a problem but not this one

I have the G version and to be honest I love it . It’s very comfortable, with just the right amount of heft , and the legibility is great , no issues with it at all ! I wear mine pretty often and I had no problems with it so far . ...
