Sonnerie movement

Nov 04, 2020,05:20 AM

I would venture a guess that this will be a Sonnerie movement that is new to Patek.  When the 5520P came out people were all surprised that an Alarm dual time watch was possible in a Pilot case.  Well, this time the Calatrava(looks like in the pic) will have an either Sonnerie or Petite Sonnerie movement...  that’s my guess.  The price for the piece will be in the mid $200k range similar to the new price on the 5520P.

I really hope they finally give us a successor to the great but small 215 now.

It somehow looks that way. At least its a manual wound piece, so i personally just hope thats a simple movement the regular customer can actually buy. So excited! ...

Hm yes, Mr. Stern said a few too many times that there were really many people involved.

I did more wishing than guessing, then.

what looks strange ....

is for me the association of a monopusher and potentially a minute repeater ... Usually minute repeater need to be winded by the lock to produce the sound and i do not think a small monopusher will generate enough torque for the MR ... This is intriguing,...

95 Jewels?

I didn’t know the jewel-count went that high. From the look of it, this new piece will be available to a VERY exclusive group of top clients. No doubt, a beast of a watch. Given the vast disposable income that this thing is going to demand of its owner, I...

I still LOVE

the 3970 with its masterful 24 jewels. Best watch that I ever bought.

Simplified version of the movement in the 6300

This appears to be the a variation of the repeater layer of the Grandmaster Chime, based on the bridge layout and placement of jewels. Best, Brandon

That‘s definitely it... Ref. 5378

...the balance bridge is exactly the same, too. And imo this was the only Patek movement so far with balance bridge. So a MR with acivation via pusher in the crown, case lake 5370‘s... Guess: Ref. 5378

What else though do we think?

Having just recently released the Ref. 5303R Minute Repeater, I reckon we might be in for more of a surprise than just a MR. ;_

If you watch the accompanying videos Thierry devotes his time to explaining his love of the MR.

Therefore one assumes that’s likely to be it!!

But I think the price should be way more then $200K, maybe be about $500K...

Guessed it CORRECTLY!!

Interesting..

 By: Zainm : November 4th, 2020-18:33
it is a MR using the 5370p case. either has a pusher on the left side of the case near the top close to the lug to activate the MR instead of the slider (like a worldtime to advance the hour) or it is activated using the monopusher crown if that it isn't ...

With a 12.59 reveal it has to be a minute repeater

Monopusher design and possibly powered by the main spring similar to a Zeitwerk.
