3445 as a daily wearer?

 By: Erik1 : July 8th, 2022-19:15
Hi all, I am considering to potentially add a 3445 to the collection and would like to get opinions on using it for daily wear on a regular basis. I do have experience of wearing a submariner from late 60s in this way but that watch was obviously built to...

It is a classy and classic watch.

IMO it depends on your lifestyle and taste. Looking forward to seeing your wrist shots should you pull the trigger.

Thank you

In terms of style I see absolutely no issue with it but rather it’s more about durability for a not very adventurous lifestyle (office, tube, pub and walks around the neighbourhood) but nonetheless is exposed to potentially hitting against something and m...

It’s got some water resistance as you can see here

The large O-ring on the caseback is a good sign, but I would wear it as a dress or office watch, and refrain from sporty or active outdoor use. It’s still 50+ years old. Happy hunting, Cazalea ...

It's just basic common sense. Depends on a lot of factors...

First and foremost, it depends on your lifestyle. Know yourself. Do you stop at the gym on the way home from the office? If so, don't wear this watch at the gym. How secure are gym lockers at your gym? Even the best country clubs have problems sometimes. ...

I wore a 3411 for several years as a semi daily piece. I wore it on nearly completed commercial construction sites. Never had any issues with it or any of the other vintage time only VCs or APs. I was always more mindful of moisture issues with vintage pi...

Good to know!

Thanks for sharing your insight and welcome to the forum!

Ahh. London is ok on humidity. Safety is an issue in London.

If you have a driver, I'd say you're okay. Safety is a part of the "environment." But if you take a lot of public transit and there's a chance you'll be out with the watch after dark, then it might not be a great watch for daily use in London. London is u...

I think that's mostly true. But even a 1% risk is fairly high.

I wouldn't travel by plane if there was a 1% risk that the plane would encounter some dangerous scenario.

Do you stop at the gym on the way home from the office? If so, a true story for you...

Big burly ex-Navy SEAL named Leonard said to me, " Mike the crystal on my Rolex just shattered " as when he brought his watch for repair. " Can you fix it under warranty? " I asked him to describe the circumstances (I worked at a Schwinn Bicycle Shop for ...

Ahh!

I've heard more stories about things missing from the lockers (theft). But I suppose this could happen too!

The movement is robust, and the water resistance should be adequate.

Obviously, when wearing a watch, accidents can take place, but in my experience (with references 3425 and 3440, but they are similarly designed), the watch should generally be able to take care of itself. I believe, based on the comments of watchmakers, t...

Thanks

Definitely wouldn’t be using it as a steel sports watch but was keen to compare to e.g. a modern calatrava

Thank you for sharing this beauty!

Where did you have the case back replaced out of interest?
