PP3970 Gen 3 and 4

Hi PP experts,

I would like to know how do you tell the difference between  3970 Gen 3 and 4. The Gen 2 is straight forward since the dial uses ‘stick’ hour markers. So far I’ve seen photos of Gen 3 and 4 having similar identities eg markings on the side of lugs instead of under side...etc.
Could someone please enlighten me please.  Thanks !

the difference between the 3rd and 4th series 3970 lies in the serial numbering of the watches. The series 4 watches came directly from the factory with a deployant clasp, but the series 3 watches also cam with the same clasp. Someone here on the Forum is...

that estimates is similar......

.... to an article from Hodinkee www.hodinkee.com y The article does differentiate Gen 3 and 4 by way of the serial number. Seems appearance wise, there is no significant or consistent differences unlike the Gen 2. thanks for sharing.
