This for me is my favourite Patek perpetual calendar chronograph model. The movement fills up the case back well, the size at 36.5mm is amazing the fact that so much is happening inside this watch. Yep, I will have mine either in platinum or white gold pl... 

My favorite is still 5004P but 3970P also super nice....

I think in terms of value and beauty , this one is the beast It would be great tio show it side by side with the 5970 P Interested to know how it stacks up Julian

Great shots and I'm in agreement on the 3970. As I posted my dilemma yesterday, I officially passed on the 5170P today and am homing in on this or the G version now. Regarding the 5970 comment. I certainly love all of them however I think the lugs and pus... 

I have spent plenty of time with the 5970p, and j as well as the 5270g (my father-in-law owns all 3) and aesthetically the 3970p is the best looking one to my eye. If the watch was a millimeter or 2 bigger it would be about perfect. Thanks for sharing! To... 

Holding the 5970p and 5270g side by side I much prefer the look of the 5270g as well even though I'd take the 5970p if he offered me one or the other as it's way more collectable. Aesthetically though, to our eyes, the 5270g looks sharper but that 3970p t... 

Nico.. can you please do a close up shot of the 24hrs sub dial? The bottom half of the sub dial looks interesting.. so sort of evening shade indication for the sunlight? Thank you. James

the moon disc is (IMHO) the more colorful, warm and pleasing blue/yellow rather than black/silver and the font on the day and months discs is thinner and IMHO more elegant. Also early 3rd series platinums only came with the solid back. Thanks for posting ...

Can't say the same for the "blown up" successors of this perfectly proportioned reference...

PP stops changing the chrono seconds hand at service. Yes it is a counter balance issue, but that could have been accomplished with a less obstrusive seconds hand without a bulbous bottom. For example like the 5050. I had the pleasure of owning this piece...

.....i love the reference a great deal. Having said that, I see only one PCC for my collection and that is the 5970. I have had that on my wrist for the last few weeks now and am beginning to think I love it even more than the 5070.
