which one is for you the most 'Patek Philippe'

I'm not looking for the most expensive, most rare, most sought after, ... Just which of these 2 has the most Patek DNA for you ? We can"t deny the 5711 became an icon and the Genta design is top notch, on the other hand a WT is something Patek does excell...

Neither

It would be the Calatrava. If you forced me to choose then I would pick the WT. Patek should be known for making dress watches first and foremost, not sports watches first

Which calatrava? [nt]

Well there’s a lot to choose from

But given that the context here is on modern patek... my preference would be for the 5296 ref, or 6000 ref.

Agree

OR. Grand complications if you take a historic perspective

personally WT is a killer....

a very elegant combo of the artistic touch on the dial + very very useful complication yet understated elegance...core of PP, isn't it. you've shot the pair well - kudos !! Best, mahesh.,

Patek has always been a dress watch for me

IMO The enamel WT is more Patek in terms of Patek DNA and history because....

 By: GLau : December 22nd, 2019-02:21
WTs existed back in the 30s and those 5131 scissor hands are more vintage along with enamel dials for the historic WTs

Definitely WT...

Also think the Calatrava and Perpetual Calendar have a lot of great early DNA - but Patek is unique in that there is a pretty robust set of differentiated designs and complications over many years that make it a very special Watchmaker Calatrava, Nauti, A...

Great question

I think the answer will depend on whom you ask Most wis would say wt but I think the general populous might say the nautilus For me I would tend to lean to 5711 as a classic pp but pp are def known for the world timer If you had to ask I would say the Cal...

I agree with you. Patek is known for Calatrava, Golden Ellipse and/or Grand Complications watches; that’s in its DNA. Period

Rest all other ranges serve for commercial and financial success of the Brand.

The most Patek would be 2499/3970/5970 to me

or the likes. Between those 2, 5711 cause I have always liked it though it's a modern model

because for me Patek is synonymous with dress watches.

For me, calatrava, BUT

 By: Reuven Malter : December 22nd, 2019-04:46
I think the enamal is not "typical" even though Patek is and always was a master of that craft. But thats not the big significance if i look at Patek historically. The 5711 however is very Patek because its the symbol of the 80s and the time when Patek be...

A great question. Patek is iconic in so many areas of horology, that's why it's at the very top -- and you've highlighted three of these most significant areas in one picture!

 By: FabR : December 22nd, 2019-05:58
The simple Nautilus design, the WT complication, and rare handcrafts are among the reasons of Patek's undisputed excellence. Not the only ones, of course (as other friends have sensibly mentioned, let's not forget the Calatrava design or Patek's records i...

Both are great watches. That said, between the two, I'd personally say the WT.

Patek has quite the WT history. The Calatrava 96 and the 1526 perpetual calendar also often come to mind for me when I think of Patek. Kind regards, Dan

While I love the 5711 (and am currently harassing my AD for a 5726/1a-014 - I know..good luck with that)...

 By: NoH : December 22nd, 2019-14:50
The answer to your question, in my humble opinion, is most definitely the WT.

Most "Patek" is the 3940J

By: Mean Solar Time : December 23rd, 2019-15:07
Isn't that the watch that Philippe Stern wore for may years? It was produced from 1985 to 2007 and represented Patek's persistence in the face of the Quartz tsunami that swept away a significant portion of the Swiss watch industry.

Yes it was the watch he wore for many years.

The 3940J saved Patek.

Not an easy one, but my vote goes to the WT

The Nautilus could be more "recognizable" by the crowd, but it doesn't mean more "Patek". And as much as I love it, the Nautilus is quite "recent" and was not really the original one changing the game (which was the RO), so I don't find enough reasons to ...
