No current platinum Calatravas other than the 5196?

I’ve wanted a platinum dress watch my entire life. I love the 5196P look but am less than enamored with the 215 movement.

Taking that out of the equation, it seems odd that PP doesn’t offer any other choices in platinum. I’m looking for slim, 37-39mm, auto movement or manual (that fits the case). I could live with a date window if necessary, so the 5227 would be a contender. But why not offer it in platinum?

The downside to the buyer is more expense. The upside to PP is a nice premium. Is the market just not there?

As it is I am exploring the independent market (not a bad thing necessarily).

Although it would be on the secondary market now, I would...

seriously consider JLC's MUT in platinum.... www.watchprosite.com 2-pictures-of-the-jaeger-lecoultre-master-ultrathin-jubilée-platinum--2013--/2.1287401.10900031/0/ It was a record-setter, and JLC supplied PP for a 150 years. -Dean

That is correct, the only (non-rare handcraft) Calatrava in P in the current catalog is the 5196P. However, there's also the 5088P in the "regular collection"...

If I recall correctly, it's considered an application piece, probably also a limited edition. Certainly unusual, but very, very much worth considering if you have a chance ;-) Cheers.

That one is WAAAY over the top....

5107p fits the bill if you can find one on after market

The epitomie of a classic watch with a top 65 h manual movement in a 38 mm case. Very cool watch!

All of the suggestions for other brands are interesting...

...but what if I have my heart set on Patek? I can “get away” (meaning my wife has approved...) with the purchase of a single watch, not multiples. I am a buy-and-hold guy. I would own it forever. So far the best suggestion for PP would be to go vintage. ...

Baguette diamonds and platinum in 38 mm. A serious, serious piece! Unisex, too.

Very nice but too flashy for me...

I did a search...it must be one of the most faked watches ever. : )

To me it is the best three hand watch with date from Patek or any manufacturer

Maybe it is in reach if I sell my small collection to fund it, but surely I would love to own it. A timeless Patek! "More than this. You know there one thing... " Roxy Music

Great music reference : )

...saw one that sold for under $US55k at auction but don’t remember the date. That seems like a reasonable price.

Look for a new release next year

but the platinum may be the last to issue. I would check out the Lange Saxonia Thin or the VC manual wind. Both much better options than anything PP currently offers in manual wind simple dress.

Other brands

I understand exactly what type of watch you have in mind and why you want platinum. Fortunately there are, next to Patek and some independents, many more high and medium end brands who carry gorgeous pt watches. I’ve added a picture of my personal favorit...
