I have rather mixed feelings about this
I'm sure it'll sell well but I personally don't find the colour combination particularly attractive. Not that I can ever get my hands on this one, but this new one makes me appreciate my "traditional blue" 5711 even more!

I think Patek is beginning to lose credibility here and almost becoming AP with its LE's
1) They say the 5711 is discontinued and will only be in production for this year!! OK was probably a bit naive of me thinking that they can still do a purple, red, yellow and a red one before the year is out; 2) 170 years is not auspicious in anyones cal...

Their job being to keep the CEO and CMO aware of upcoming anniversaries in multiples of 5 and 10 years. For example... "It's been 95 years since we launched the 'X' line of pilot's watches, time for another limited edition" or "next year will be 15 years ...

Sure, I meant within "haute horlogerie," but it's true that if there's one watch brand that, at least in some sense, can "compete" with Patek's status, this is definitely Rolex! ;-)
And Rolex is obviously the best-known watch brand to the "general public," no doubt about it -- I can totally believe it is considered the main luxury brand by most people, and certainly for some good reasons

I can understand why it was hard to resist. Not worth getting upset over though - As an enthusiast who is well below the price range of patek, releases like this serve as a fun, no consequence spectacle
Thankfully I'm not a big 5711 fan as these will be hard to get. But I have a feeling that they now have to totally end the 5711 line as they are losing their credibility.

I obviously can't speculate on nothing, but I genuinely do NOT believe a change of ownership is even under consideration --- regardless of money --- at least in the "near future" and under current leadership, of course.

The beauty of the blue and green dial 5711 is the ever changing color of the dial under varying light conditions. This Tiffany dial is more bling bling and better executed by the Rolex Oyster Perpetual with turquoise dial. This Tiffany 5711 is extreme pan...

I think this is very nicely executed and a fitting tribute to celebrate Patek’s longstanding relationship with Tiffany.
Patek are only making 170 so IMO no reason to be angry that it cheapens the brand in some way. Thierry did hint in an interview with Hodinkee earlier in the year that there was another surprise coming - now we know what it was!!
Yes, while we should understand some people's frustration (it IS hard to be selected for these watches, no doubt about it), I agree with you and most other watch enthusiasts that 4 dial colors in 15 years (!) do not affect a brand's credibility! :-)
