Rules and Etiquette of the Patek Philippe Forum

 By: Miranda : October 30th, 2018-16:03
Here are the rules: 1. Break the rules you get banned- no warning ⚠️ I want quality of discussion not quantity E.g. A blanket statement, no fact or evidence or statistics I gave the OP a chance: www.watchprosite.com I produce facts, still waiting ...

Please don't ban me!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : October 30th, 2018-16:51
Hi Imran, I appreciate your deeply felt posts about Patek and your desire for quality discourse about PP. Certainly, having challenging (yet civil) conversations is stimulating and it can be good to challenge quick opinions. But, please don't be so quick ...

You hit the nail on the head “the tone of the post i can't defend,”

 By: Miranda : October 30th, 2018-17:08
Had it been a reasoned response with evidence and civil: no problem A statement that says Such bad finishing- quantify it Or quoting high price: when the Patek is cheaper That’s the problem Ive put up with it for too long. So extreme measures needed Opini...

Ha, okay, I see your point! [nt]

A bit excessive and dictatorial for a watch forum?

 By: pv45 : October 31st, 2018-05:05
This is a "luxury hobby" for want of a better word. Not a visit to the Doctor or some political crisis debate. Not sure such heavy handedness is really required.

Imagine you get banned for sharing opinions .

Good morning Imran, very rarely react on such posts...

 By: dedestexhes : October 30th, 2018-22:10
it is always sad to have to announce such measures. It is so amazing how negative people can be. I never understood why people react on post in a negative way. I think it is often better to not comment, why wanting to hurt people or brands. I think the ma...

Dear Imra... Sorry! Dear Josif Vissarionovich! :)

 By: Dmitriy : October 31st, 2018-00:33
Initial. You ask facts. However, the facts cannot always be documented. If you have visited watch factories, you know that only a few are open as (Piaget, Omega, Ulysse Nardin) and allow you to photograph the process of making watches. For example (AP, VC...

Dear Dmitriy, thanks for a very good post

 By: Miranda : October 31st, 2018-01:38

Without any doubt, the Patek Philippe forum is the most difficult to Moderate. I do not envy Miranda his responsibility to keep this forum civil and positive. Over the last 10 years on this forum, I have seen a lot of things on this forum. Patek Philippe ...

The trouble with being number one

 By: Langeholic : November 1st, 2018-00:42
Haters will always have something to say, Patek should take it as a compliment

Thank you for doing the hard work Imran!

Sadly its needed. Best Blomman

I see passion on either sides - true passion for watches. While I believe in freedom of expression/speech/opinion w/out the need to substantiate or prove ones inclination, I also understnd..

....it can be considered quite offensive to the party this right is exercised against. In our society- like in any civil dispute - It shud be the 'actions' which fall under the Rule of law and never the speech/expression/choice. Yet, we all are collective...

Agreed

 By: Baron - Mr Red : October 31st, 2018-05:17
And so long as people don’t confuse free speech with an opportunity to be rude/offensive, it’s fine. I also believe that Imran is making it clear that the forum won’t be a platform for Patek haters. I totally agree with him on this. It very quickly degene...

Not sure about this rule. Critic and Criticism shud be welcome and is part of free speech. Not even sure why if anyone, shud be personally offended if Patek or AP is criticized. Mod can call out..

 By: redcorals : October 31st, 2018-07:25
...anyone who produces unsubstantial evidence or correct him/her if an ignorant statement is made but banning someone is above limits IMO as long as the discourse is still about watches. Now If one doesn't have time enuf to patrol such statements that is ...
