There is also an interesting article very specific to the 3940 available online at “The Collected Man” website. I just found it. They talk about the case suppliers for the 3940 along with its entire history of manufacture. Fortunately , there were around 7,000 ( or more) examples of the 3940 built over a 20 -year period. They will be available to many people ( like me) who can only afford a “ humble” piece of Patek Philippe Grand Complication” history!
