would have tried on your watch before you bought it?
paid a visit to my AD on New Year's Day and was fortunate to be able to try on these references...
i was told that they will endeavour to have such references available for customers to try on at least, even though buying them is another matter altogether ...

Matt, even if they let customers try on these models, it's been a few years now that demand is *extremely* high. Hence, whether we like it or not, it's entirely unsurprising that these pieces can only be allocated to "select" customers... ;-)
Nothing has really changed, except that while in the past customers of this AD were only shown pictures, now they can also try on the watches they will NOT be allocated! And to be (as usual) frank and direct, I see no reason to expect demand will decrease...

...but it seems that the 'big guys' have lost a bit of their souls. What about guys like me who could scrape together the money and would never sell the watch? I love watches as much (or more) than anyone on earth excluding the fine people on this forum. ...
yeah... i was indeed happy to be able to try them on. previously, i was only shown the catalogue whenever i asked about them
i guess they'll be prepared to manage the increased number of requests. for the customers, it's definitely better than stepping into an "empty" store.

I was unaware that ADs have display models that are not for sale. Is that often true? Or are they just holding these watches for another customer to whom the watches are already designated?
The difficulty in getting those popular references is exponentially rising, giving the market value has reached stratospheric height (and keep escalating....).
The meaning of "right customer" is evolving, from previously clients who won't flip the watches to currently clients who have spent big money on other less sought after references. In fact, even those "less sought after" references become very popular now...
