I think 2020 will be the end of the 5270 series

I agree with all that the P has to be more exclusive than the R.

But in order for that to happen, they have to produce it for only two years.

Then what is left for the 5270? All metals have been done except a J, but that doesn't seem like the end of the line.

5270R vs 5270P?

 By: fallanden_ch : March 16th, 2019-04:32
I have a 5270P on order with a delivery date of January 2020. I had never tried the watch in the metal and yesterday I had the chance to try a 5270R, Never worn, but traded in by one of those collectors who buys multiple Patek's a month and trades them wi...

Your reply anserwed my queston! Thanks.

Wow, I wasn't expecting two real wrist shots of both watches. Do you own both? I am in love with the 5270P from the photo. I'm sure I'll love it in the metal. I feel lucky to have one on the way.

Yeah, in Geneva you can try them all.

I own the 5270G with blue dial, so I prefer the P for the metal color. But, I’m not a fan of salmon dials so between these two, I’d take the R and use the extra cash on something else.

If the price gap is not an issue the the P

I would go for the R and invest the price gap into another watch.

Price always matters, but if the pics of the P are how it looks in the metal, it's worth it to me.

My only concern was the salmon dial. Some shots make it look lighter and some richer and with a deeper hue. I'm sure the dials are consistent, so it's the photos. The photo on this thread makes it look perfect.

P

Not having seen either watch in the flesh, I would vote for P. Yes it’s a hefty bit more expensive but, here are two main buts; P by definition will be more rare then R, pt comes in one color only while gold comes in yellow rose and anything in between. T...

No P (or other white metal at least for me)

If white metal then 5970G,but this 5970R is a beauty for sure

Surely a trip to Geneva to see both in the metal is warranted.

That will allow you to answer this question today, rather than 2020.

Boyh outstanding, but at that level I’d probably go all the way in for the P...

From what I understand, only the P would also carry your name on the papers, certainly another plus. Can they already guarantee arrival in January 2020 or do they just mean you’ll get the first 2020 allocation? Cheers😀

It would be the R for me without a doubt

I have tried both on the patina on the dial of the R is something quite special. I know salmon dials are popular but even if they were both the same price, I would opt for the R as it is a more handsome watch to me at least

Both great watches . . .

Both the R and the P are terrific. That said, I lean toward the P. I wasn’t certain until I saw it in person, because it’s really hard to assess the salmon dial in photos. In person, it is really nice. ...

Dial patina

I'm glad having seen the watch in the metal, you like the patina of the salmon dial. This was something of concern to me. I hope it has a rich hue

Hard choice.

Does it matter to you that the dial has stick hour indexes or arabic numerals? Personally I really like both, but haven't seen them 'in the flesh' together next to eachother to really look detailed at the differences side by side. Curious if others who di...

P without a doubt [nt]

RG for me

 By: MTR : March 17th, 2019-09:51
First I like the warm Patina of the dial of the RG. Second - for me - the date and month windows of the RG harmonize more with the dial. Third 40K more (CHF, $ or €?) are a lot of money. If your heart really beats more for the PT than it is worth the pric...

Both are Beauties

In my opinion the 'R' is a dressier watch. (shirt, tie, suit) The 'P' is a bit softer and I feel more casual.(cashmere jacket, cashmere sweater) of course YOUR CALL!!!
