...even I don't care for the NYC skyline.  It means nothing to me to see it on this World Timer or any watch for that matter.  Perhaps they should spend more time and effort on more variations of the guilloche dial like the 5110P or some variations on enamel, cloissone dials.

The exposition in NY must be fantastic , I’m sure. Would love to go but that is impossible. It was great to discover they made a few special watches for that event. The embargo is over, they are already on a few other sites like Hodinkee The enamel dial m...

that is indeed a fantastic one

I believe they'll make only 3 of these ( but at 560K USD it's not my game anymore LOL)

The MR that's linked to the world time ring is pretty damn awesome. Cheers, Brandon

The two world timer are really beautiful (already in the standard reference) especially the one with the minute repeater is really stunning.

I do not like the calatrava in steel just as the calatrava travel time because they so not have nothing in common with Patek philosophy but it is off course my humble opinion. However I get your point and I understand your frustration! Best.

How many pilot watches are out there?

 By: piccolochimico (aka dsgalaxy1) : July 12th, 2017-14:11
Many, but i'm aware today the brand is more powerful than any other technical feature. Recently PP commanded their ADs not to sell sealed watches (it's an old recommendation) but i can bet 2 cents that there will be several on the gray market, with insane...

this patek

 By: edwardwchang : July 12th, 2017-14:26
the simple 3 hand patek pilot is more expensive than the FP Journe Chronometre Bleu in Tantalum which is just absolutely crazy and asinine

Be bold and be the second owner.

It's not as though the rest of the world is permanently barred from owning this model. With 600 made, there's no way that a determined collector won't be able to pick one up eventually. I was at the (excellent) Exhibition today - and encountered Patrick f...

Clear backs

I believe these will have sapphire backs with the PP NYC event logo etched in.

I am guessing the decision comes from Mr. T. Stern

 By: Joepny : July 12th, 2017-08:29
When Singapore celebrated their big anniversary a few years ago, PP did something similar and created some enamel dome clocks that were intended only for Singaporean collectors. SJX reported that was a decision made by TS. I think it is a stroke of market...

Me too

 By: Lenrock : July 12th, 2017-08:56
We can only hope that PP will do for rest of the world (by the way Romania is not small for PP, it not on the map) a new edition and we can get something not LE. I hope to be black.

I think this is to ensure Americans get first go at what is effectively their exhibition. If it was 700 globally well they would get a smaller slug

I did make contact prior to embargo being lifted and both told me they would only sell to known customers with Sheridan addresses. No different to how many of us would feel iff our AD sold LE's to unknowns or foreigners!!! However I think the allocation p...

The same here exactly

I tried calling a few ADs in the states,They will only sell to known customers,And I never bought a watch from the states. Beautiful watches,Sad news for any Patek lover outside of the United States. Best, Ahmed

I am not really a Patek guy but admit I really like this watch.

 By: MichaelC : July 12th, 2017-10:14
Of course, I also liked the pilot watch when it was launched, and most here did not, so what do I know? But I do live in the US, so that is a good start ;-)

Interesting piece that makes a lot of sense to me at least...

 By: keks : July 12th, 2017-10:47
600 for US only is not ultra rare but a good marketing move I think. Patek recognizes the importance of the US market and trying to go big with the Grand Exhibition and the release of this pilot watch. It is a good way to attract a new generation of buyer...

Isn't Patek releasing too many LE's lately ?

 By: Maltie : July 12th, 2017-11:08
And we all know that too many is the beginning of the end... Oh, and if I want a Pilot watch...I don't think Patek honestly.

Not bad!

 By: willski : July 12th, 2017-11:46
A nice watch and I'm sure it will sell out like hot cakes. There are a lot of comments on pricing but to be honest I think it's fairly reasonable (exclaimed: for PP)? A SS Calatrava style Pilot's watch is pretty new, and MSRP is closer to 5167 than 5711 w...

may I humbly ask what is the price of the Pilot?

I don't think it is to post MSRP.

 By: willski : July 12th, 2017-15:35
I believe it's USD 21,547.

Just not sure about this, but would have the 5524 any day

 By: Poky : July 12th, 2017-14:53
I wonder if this watch did not have the PP branding, it would still be as desirable? In my book, this is called printing money: use an existing movement, simplify the design, use a cheaper metal that you don't usually use, make it a limited edition at an ...

These are the politics of enterprise.

 By: EJR888 : July 12th, 2017-15:33
Hi, all of companies have the market politics and target for take. With the Patek to be different? No, and they did how the swiss to do the work: simply, discret and focused in the goal. You can to write and to do order in the Patek or will to seek in the...

Is only available in USA it is expressly released for the NYC Patek exhibition I am still ambivalent about this watch Julian

These releases are easy for me.

 By: Chimaera : July 14th, 2017-08:48
I like the aviator, but not enough to relocate to NYC to be eligible for one. For the WT/MRs, I'd relocate to Dante's Inferno, if necessary. Thankfully my family need not worry about that as the price point is too high anyway....

because

 By: Bruno.M1 : July 14th, 2017-11:38
Well Julian, I see no reason why they had to make this for the US only. All the other watches they made for that exhibition are EXISTING watches with something that refers to the US or New York to be more precise. The enamel dials, the WT, the pocket watc...

I kindly ask your forgiveness...

... but besides the distribution philosophy behind this watch, are the Patek aficionados really satisfied with the dial balance? To my (Patek- wise uneducated) eyes the minute hand is too short and the lollipop seconds hand simply looks out of correct dim...
