The nautilus looks most attractive with only 2 hands on the main pinion..

But in this case, 5726 comes out on top - I prefer the blue and nautilus should be in steel

A Comparison - Patek 5726 /1A-014 vs Patek 5740 / 1G. Would love to hear how the Forum members feel about each reference, which one they prefer

and please share any photos. I will be happy to start. I recently acquired the pictured 5726. I do not own a 5740 and the image comes from the Patek website. 5726 - what I like about the 5726 are: the symmetrical and open, non-cluttered dial. I particular...

key points ! 👍 Indeed as a “sports” watch the Nautilus in steel is the most appropriate metal IMO. The symmetry of 5726 offers a pleasing design. The 5740 has a lighter blue that I find more attractive. The WG case has a heft that provides a great wrist p...

I'm not a Nautilus Fan at all but would prefer the 5726

The PC complication with this dial fits much better in combination with a classic case of 3940 or 5140 imho

Both amazing

And one could easily justify having both… but if only one watch and that one is a Nautilus then perhaps your steel 5726 would be the one. Steel being a far more wearable metal for frequent wear and the 5726 is such a versatile reference. Can play both for...

Easy …

The 5740 ! I’m sure that when you see the dial in person and handle the watch you will love it.

Thank you for your comment.

I actually have viewed the 5740 and had it on my wrist. It is an extremely special watch. That said, all things considered, for me I prefer having 5726.

✅✅

I hope this answers today’s question. Lol ...

I have. 5740 from 2018 and it was the only watch I selected at Baselworkd 2018 and that year had iconic releases..

5270P, 5531R, 5968a…the blue did it for me and the grand complication. However I do find it easier to read data in window format so 5726 wins that. However the 5726 is much thicker..the 5740 glides under a shirt sleeve….to get an annual calendar when you ...

That is an extremely interesting perspective from an owner of 5740

I can definitely see why one would want to own both. Hope you get the 5726 soon and I hope you will post your own comparison of the two as an owner

Big big congrats...

with that secret T sauce, I'll take any model, lol....

Maybe this one as well…5740

Haha…definitely with a T sauce…anything will do! ...

Depends on how you are going to wear them

IMO neither is a true sports watch, both need to be protected from shocks and extreme conditions. The steel on 5726 marks so easily and are you seriously going to take that swimming in the sea? You would still have to look after 5726 (I would anyway) so f...

Classy to not mention yours is a tiffany dial!

Congrats for the gorgeous blue dial 5726/1A

My comparison between the two are as follows. Common: both are calendar sport watches, with practical water resistance Difference: Dial: 5726 is easier to read, more contemporary. 5740G is more crowded and classic layout like 3940/ 5140 Profile: 5740 is s...

Thank you Henry for the compliment and detailed comparison. I have a somewhat different view about your comment that the 5726 is “more contemporary”.

For me the layout of the dial with month and day windows at 12 and sweep seconds harks all the way back to the 2497. That said, for me they are both clearly creatures of the modern era in both design and function. Best, Patekova
