I don’t either

But for many buying a Patek meant it’s a wise financial decision, not because they actually like the watch itself.

In another watch forum I have seen far too many questions about the future value of a watch.

Would you buy a limited edition 5740P salmon dial?

YES!!!!!!’

One more available then 😋

But I understand your point.

Selling house for a complicated watch is quite a good trade.

Just not for a Nautilus. Life dedicated to watches!

And I thought a hobby is only then a hobby if you overdo it?!

I will try to push for the extremities, I'll report.

:D [nt]

Definitely yes

but only if it was a 5740/1A. The gold is too hefty for me

That would be a minor miracle

Patek making watches in titanium. Mind you, Kari Voutilainen has started making them in titanium which to me is a huge selling point!

no!

I would keep salmon for special watches and not add it to everything (or have made it regular production). Nautilus is also watch themed to the ocean, porthole and the sea so a blue dial is really what suits it. best

Salmon is a fish. [nt]

Good point! 😉 [nt]

I agree

Frankly I think part of the attraction of the salmon dial was its rarity. It’s not a color easy to pair clothes with, if it’s a regular dial I don’t even think most buyer would chose it.

True

Which is why I don’t think 5270P ultimately will be worth more than say, 5970 with salmon dial.

I don't think about them in terms of higher value

To me is a personal choice depending on personal preference: dial, movement, etc. And if you want a brand new one, at least you have a choice.

I don’t either

Yes, you're right

Too many people "investing" in watches instead of enjoying them. I do think about depreciation when considering a new watch, but that's not my main driver at all.

No. I go with thomasapp. Salmon is not supposed for the Nautilus.

Besides that have never understood the hunt of many collectors for extreme rarity. I only buy the watches I like irrespective of its rarity. Rarity is no real issue for me.

I'm not a fan of extreme rarity, it's a plus but not the main argument at all

I always loved the AP ROs salmon and do believe the Nautilus would look awesome as well.
