... on the way to my watch dealer to have the strap changed out on my new Patek 5107P. While I was getting the new strap sized, I noticed this 5196P in the case—a brand new arrival. I had never seen one in the metal before. I had lots of reasons to prefer...  

I do think the 5196p is nicer than the 5107p.

Those 60 dots around the circumference of the dial is what makes this watch complete in my eyes!

Also, the intriguing geometry of the dial design, with its subtly different surfaces.

... and I never pulled the trigger but continue to rely on a 3998P as my go to PM dress watch at this point. Congrats!

and my other Patek is a 3940, which is also a favorite of a certain Stern...

It is not easy to obtain this watch these days. Patek Salon in London told to me they get around 2 pieces every year.

this one was not new; I traded one preowned for another. I suspect this will be discontinued soon, perhaps as early as this year.
