I am in the minority but…

I prefer the 3970 to the 5970.
The 5970 had the case upsized but not the movement and it shows. When you look at the 3970, it’s proportions are consistent throughout.

You think the 5270 is well balanced. I even am ok with the “chin” models, though those needed a longer seconds hand.

Just my opinion of course.

Which of both Perpetual Calendar Chronographs is more relevant 🤔

One of the last 3970R from the last series and a 5270G from the first series. 41 vs. 36 mm. So different but so alike. Both sizes are great to wear. I really love them both 😍 ...

Congrats on having a

I'd vote for the 5279, but I'd love to be wearing either one

In the photo.

Agree 100% with Nico . I have top one. I love it, but no comparison. IMO

Love your 1st series 5270

I have a 5270R on strap and have often considered getting the 1st generation as a compliment,..the 5270 range of watches are just sublime!

+ 1

and also, the new in-house movement is way better with a number of patents. Regardless, we also cannot ignore the 3970 and 5970 given the historical significance. If budget is not an issue, then get all three models. Can't go wrong with any of the PCC ref...

Relevant? Relevant to what?

I don't know what the question means! But I know they're two amazing watches, and that if I could have one, it would be the 3970.

+ 1 .....

....I think so too... (just my opinion).

I would go for the 36mm. If possible but both are nice. 😊

Even at 41mm it is passable cause there are complications. Tfs. Geross.

2 wonderful pieces for sure. Could not choose between the 2 so you did well getting both 🔥

Forgot to add that the 1st gen 5270G-001 doesn't get enough love or appreciate for what it was at the time and how clean the dial is compared to other variant. Maybe one day it will get more shine 😉

I like, own and wear both for different reasons.

3970 is a stunner for me with its classic design. A pretty full dial, lovely case and wonderful old-school movement. My 5270 is a G of the very first series with its spacious and clean dial design which I love. Case is of classic style and the in-house mo...

The 3970 for me but only because you don’t have a 5970 in the line up.

I love everything about the 3970 apart from the most crucial for me its proportions. As hard as I have tried it just doesn’t look right on my wrist. “The hamburger “ is just too small and too thick for me. The 5270 leaves me cold also with lacking Patek D...

Thanks for your honest opinion and good to see that preferences are so different

The 5970 is a nice watch but for me the dial is too busy and the small movement doesn't really match with the case. Somehow an oversized 3970 with a tachymeter scale. But all this is complaining on very high level. But what do you mean with lacking Patek ...

For me the 3970 and 5970

 By: Miles_151 : September 28th, 2021-19:02
With their none in house Lemania movements with Geneva seal and smaller size case look more vintage. IMO the 5970 was the last nod to the long vintage line. To me this is Patek DNA and the 5270 is a modern watch which is absolute genius as a PCC but it ju...
