Dear Friends, let me (officially) share the joy of the latest addition to my Patek collection, ref. 5088/100P....an in-catalog Rare Handcraft first introduced in 2015, which features a stunning engraved dial (and case, and buckle)! This beauty in a sense ...

To be completely honest

And as a bonus, here's Boccadasse (though it's hard to spot on the wrist) with some blue eels.... Also good for the office, the way I finance my Pateks! ;-)) ...

They look so cool!

I’m glad you finally brought it home. It’s an amazing piece (and might well be discontinued sooner than later). I also already thought about putting a red or yellow strap on which will change its look completely. As for your question, I obviously got a pe...

Definitely a complete Rare Handcraft collection!!! I am so happy for you!

 By: Tchela1 : July 24th, 2021-13:54
Warmest congratulations on such a feat! My favorite? This engraved platinum volute pattern. It’s traditional, yet modern and edgy at the same time. Pair with that yellow strap, and you’re hitting out of the ballpark! Looking forward to your Fall reveal!!!...

Thanks so much Tim -- and great to see so much diversity of preference on the forum between the four techniques! ;-)

 By: FabR : July 24th, 2021-14:10
Looking forward to my next piece as well, almost certainly to be picked up in December (I leave for the US on August 18, which is too early for this allocation)....Let's only say that I'm hoping for an aquatic Christmas! ;-)) [And no, I have NO intention ...

My favorite is the Black Enamel with the engraving.

So unique and cool. I love it.

Amazing and huge congrats!

 By: Clueless_Collector : July 24th, 2021-14:08
I can’t even get one let alone 4, only in my dreams. Wow, how did you do that? It must be your charm, bravo!

What a collection !

By: Time to watch : July 24th, 2021-14:43
A sincere and big congratulations on this new addition FabR ! Each technique is indeed special and it’s unnecessary to compare as they all deserve respect and appreciation. Wear them all in good health. P.s. this new addition is imho a little more special...

Huge congrats my friend.

What a fantastic collection!

 By: mrds : July 24th, 2021-15:01
My personal favorites are the engraved and the marquetterie pieces. Speaking of which, I just came home yesterday from a few days in Genova, with an obligatory visit to Bocadasse. Cordiali saluti, Daniel ...

Iβ€˜m already back in Switzerland…

Too bad we missed each other - it would have been a real pleasure to meet you, Fabrizio!

WOW

 By: afaleh : July 24th, 2021-16:41
Huge congrats! Next level stuff I must say! Enamel would be my choice, but all are out of this world

Well played, Fab!

 By: ArmisT : July 24th, 2021-17:15
Congratulations on a perfect acquisition. This has been a favorite for the longest time, along with the Ellipse version. I look forward to many more pictures, including with new strap! Thank you for posting this great piece.

Huge congratulations!!!

 By: penfriend : July 24th, 2021-17:50
I anticipated that you were getting this piece after the information you shared some weeks ago. For me this is the one I would pick - and as you know I am still pondering on it. With currently 8 other pieces incoming over the next 12-16 months I would rat...

I do remember you were also in the process of making a decision on the 5088 :-) A key factor for me (besides its incredible beauty when it sits on the wrist! ;-)) was also the -- relative -- rarity of this piece.

 By: FabR : July 25th, 2021-00:25
If I let this one go, it wouldn't come back! And very, very frankly, I find it on a different level than the new engraved GE in G gold (both have the same movement.......). Production is also very limited, way less than the 5131 series, I can tell you tha...

Congratulations on your latest fascinating and beautiful rare handcrafts acquisition! You have a truly exceptional quartet of Patek miniature works of art!

 By: patekova : July 24th, 2021-18:28
While I am biased towards cloisonnΓ© WTs because of the combination of artistry, functionality and history, for me the pinnacle is hand painted miniatures. Enjoy your latest and all your incredible fine art timepieces in the best of health. Best, Patekova ...

Great collection!

 By: nafetS : July 24th, 2021-19:45
Itβ€˜s really difficult to decide on a favorite technique. Itβ€˜s easier to decide on my least favorite of these techniques and thatβ€˜s the miniature painting. Cloisonne enamel, wood marquetry and engraving/enamel are all interesting and if Iβ€˜d have to decide ...

An enormous congratulations!

 By: jleno : July 24th, 2021-20:56
I love the designs of the 5088/100P, very attractive without being too flashy. The fact that the case and buckle are engraved too is fantastic. It's very hard to choose a favorite among the types of rare handcrafts. I suspect cloisonne enamel may usually ...

Thanks for your input. For instance, I was shocked when I learnt the enormous ability and patience that is required to do wood marquetry at this level (so much so that only one artist is authorized make the dials for Patek!)...

 By: FabR : July 25th, 2021-00:46
So while I think it's an impossible exercise to compare these crafts in terms of difficulty or talent required, to be honest with you, wood marquetry was (personally) the one that impressed me the most when I studied the topic a bit, at least as an extern...

I can only imagine the difficulty in making a marquetry piece with the level of details like yours!

 By: jleno : July 26th, 2021-02:05
Thanks for the link as well, those are some spectacular videos on each of the crafts!

Congrats, Prof. The new coming 5088 is amazing!

 By: joenghenry : July 25th, 2021-02:29
I would vote for enamel, engraving and miniature painting. Best, Henry

Congrats Fabrizio on a beautiful watch!

 By: Saz : July 25th, 2021-12:50
The rare handcraft is a great looking one with beautiful colors. This would be my choice. Hopefully I will share with you my new incoming!!! A new trend that will make my bank account sufferπŸ˜‚.

What a beautiful exhibition of craftsmanship.

 By: BMR : July 25th, 2021-17:05
Congratulations on adding another beauty to your rare handcraft collection. I am hoping to add one of my own at some point if I am lucky enough to receive an allocation. I’m not sure I have a preference in technique as they all really blow me away.

What an incredible collection you have already

 By: hans_jorgen_1968 : July 25th, 2021-21:32
I am personably most drawn to the enamel and minitiature painting of Geneve Looking forward to see the 5088 with matching strap to your trousers How is the 5088 to read time on? looks difficult to me? BR Hans

Many thanks for your feedback Hans! :-) Believe it or not, every other time I've been visiting my AD during the last few weeks I was wearing some yellow pants (or jacket) in the hopes the strap arrived, but no luck yet! ;-))

 By: FabR : July 25th, 2021-22:24
I understand yellow alligators are not easy to come by though, so I'll have to be patient...😎 If I have to mention only one flaw of this watch, it's the presence of those two small hands on top of the engraved dial (I believe they indicate hours and minut...

A horological degustation! Congratulations and artfully put together. My suggestion would be for a chiming watch to complete the collection, perhaps one of the rare handicraft minute repeaters?

 By: HobbyCentric : July 26th, 2021-01:31
Glad you decided on the 5088P. Of all the current and recent champleve enamelled references from Patek, including the 50th anniversary Golden Ellipse but short of the new Sky Moon Tourbillion in rose gold and brown champleve enamel, I think the 5088P Cala...

Thanks for your valuable feedback, HobbyCentric! Where to go from here is in a sense not easy, but I can confidently say that if I didn't lose interest in buying new watches after the Boccadasse, I won't stop now either! :-)

 By: FabR : July 26th, 2021-05:59
Patek itself might have in fact made my next watch a no-brainer, if the special allocation I'm expecting for the Fall is confirmed...With some luck, my #2 favorite watch will actually become a pretty spectacular companion to...the fishermen's borough of.....

Congratulations on the new 5088P

and also the other exquisite and beautiful rare handcraft pieces you have. One will never get tired of looking at them and please keep them coming : ) Personally, I like all kinds of rare handcraft pieces as each of them represents a special position held...

Thanks Huei for offering some really good remarks -- very happy the topic of this thread, one my favorite in horology, has received so much interesting feedback from collectors, as well as a great variety of points of view!

The 5180 is indeed another special Patek reference, where engraving is pushed to the heart of the watch itself, and offers a beautiful, skeletonized interpretation of the 240 movement. However, while understandably most collectors are madly in love with P...

Thanks for sharing this wonderful 5180/1R wrist shot!

 By: Huei : July 27th, 2021-02:49
I believe the watch must feel extremely light and comfortable to wear given its thinness and lightness together with the mesh bracelet. Although it's a bit on the flashy side, I personally prefer the rose over the white gold version as the engraving seems...

Late to the game...

Because I have a hard time choosing here. To choose would be hard but, here goes... 1- Enamel & miniature painting (always admired this one) 2- Wood marquetry (I am a sucker for wood species) 3- Engraving & black enamel (never seen one before but WOW!) 4-...

First of all Huge congrats πŸŽ‰

 By: tempus : July 31st, 2021-06:05
They are all great, of course! Me personally I love the brilliant everlasting colors. The cinque Terre I would grab and run! πŸ˜€ Best Tempus

Thanks a lot, the colors on the Boccadasse (officially it's indeed "Cinque Terre," a name that I was never able to change ;-) are particularly lively, especially thanks to the 'Grand Feu' enamel on the waters, whose effect is pretty amazing!

 By: FabR : July 31st, 2021-07:49
Definitely another reason for me to love this piece, the artists in charge of it frankly created a masterpiece! Here's perhaps a good angle to see the colors even better ;-) Cheers. ...

Congratulations, Fab! πŸ₯‚
