Will we go back to “Classic”?

 By: Clueless_Collector : August 3rd, 2020-19:00
We all know our significant other share our watches and the trend is towards larger size watches...and many will say the ladies look great pulling off these larger size watches. I noticed brands are trying to capture ladies market (more revenue) by releas...

The straight lugs for Breguet is a small issue for me, as I can see it’s sticking out...

The Zenith looks ok if the lugs curve down a bit. My upper limit is 44mm and not so thick, maybe 15mm, like the Speedmaster Professionals with 9300/9904 movements.

There are at least two questions:

1. Will men's wristwatches return to smaller sizes as was found from the 1920s to 1980s? No, because their size was in large part a reaction to the size of pocketwatches. That's no longer a factor. Maybe smartwatches will exert some effect on mechanical w...

Your answers are right to the point, very well, Mr Tabby, bravo...

I think it’s just me worrying about my “boss” aka wife staring at me wondering “what the hell?!” You’re absolutely spot on but I think this 7200 target audience is not me, don’t let sham1 see this 🙈

I see there's a (general) comeback towards smaller watches for men, which is in the end quite natural given the constant push towards bigger models that took place during the past 15 years..

However, I frankly find some limits to this, regardless of one's wrist size. To be always very honest, while your wife's 7200 is a real beauty, personally I would have trouble wearing it. Yes, in part because of size, but I also see this as about the more...

I agree this trend may not reverse back to the early 1900s and therefore, I'm not seeing myself going into collecting vintage PPs...

but it's just me although there are phrases like "charming", "classic" to describe those. In the case of the 7200/50G, the color and use of MOP + diamonds is indeed designed for the ladies. If the dial is somewhat different and no diamond, with a differen...

Absolutely, the feeling for this on my wrist just isn't right...

See Gordon's post below and he has the 7200R...but these don't come with hunter case, it's sapphire back which is good to look at the 240. Thanks Henry.

What do you mean by “share”?

My significant other appropriates and seizes at will.

I agree...

my wife’s 7200R is very nearly classically perfect. The back view gets better, with the case perfectly framing the 240, no contrivances needed to compensate for movement size. The only downside is the mauve print for the signature and minute markers that ...

That's correct about the 240, it fits perfectly on this 7200...

and yes the strap is too narrow for my preference too.

Lol....you should be happy to buy more and "share" with her...

She will approve

The 7200 is a lovely watch and several years ago I got it for my wife. This watch is a classic...

Patek with a clean dial with excellent applied Brequet numerals and it is also timeless. Since I have small wrist, this watch also fit me relatively well with a dark brown strap ! Hence, my wife and I share it ! 😇 A totally different look with the brown s...

Thanks for the picture, Gordon

I may have to re-visit the idea 🤔🤣
