As an engineer my 2 cents. I believe the gear that moves the minutes for the chrono has a couple sequential teeth that are damaged. It resets to the same location, but when it hits the damaged teeth it jumps past them causing a misalignment.
Only a guess. But, if my guess is correct, that gear has a specific location for the zero 12 o clock position. I am not sure how that works.
The watch is gone, but now I’m interested. Anyone got a good photo of the movement for this watch I can look at?
