examples of a specific 5131 reference eg the J, was strictly in the colors. But from examining  your collages it is clear to me that I was mistaken. The borders, shapes of land masses and amount of space between land masses varies from dial to dial.

What I would like to know is what is the process for laying down the gold filaments? How is that done? Perhaps Gordon or another forum member knows the answer. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Best, Patekova

5131s with my previous post www.watchprosite.com / In total, we have 17 pieces from 8 owners (1 of which is his friend’s). Each is truly unique ! Can you spot the key differences for each of the metals ? Please feel free to download the photos and...

Great collages Gordon, the point is indeed how these WTs (and similarly all other rare handcraft dials) are truly unique pieces of art...

Except that the maps are (allegedly) the same for each metal, it's probably harder to spot some similarities than the differences on these dials! ;-)) Enjoy.

;-) As I said, lovely job. Another amazing collage to do one day should be for other “rare” handcrafts, like your Rousseau or my barques or Boccadasse, etc..

The trouble is of course finding enough examples (for instance I have ever seen TWO Boccadasse so far, the other one also on our forum), but given the much more elaborate dials, such comparisons would be something spectacular😉Maybe let’s wait to have at l...

Question though, are the gold country outline/borders really that different from piece to piece or is it because of the way the pictures were taken. For example, in the 6 5131R picture, the top row, 2nd and 3rd, it is very prominent, and the bottom row, 2...

My question was specific to the gold border. I am probably explaining it incorrectly bit you look at the picture with 6 5131R and look at the last dial on the top row and bottom row, you can clearly see the gold border around the countries, while the bott...

Never too late. Most importantly you have acquired the R on time.

 By: joenghenry : August 4th, 2020-03:44
Besides, your R should belong to the early series, with a warmer tone and more gradual transition of the colours, which I like very much and probably in smaller production number comparing with the later series. Cheers, Henry

not change colors as the day passes because this piece of artwork has already been "painted". However, I suppose the dial could change its colors as the day passes if there were a light beneath the dial with it shines during the day.
