5320G comparison shot of two dials

Yesterday at the PP boutique I was able to see the new dial color next to the first iteration. The color of the new dial is rather far away from the 5270P salmon touch. As the watch was already spoken for we could not unwrap it but it still gives a good i...

Are you going for one?

No

The original one has been on my list for one year now and I have tried it several times. But in the end, it has never pulled me enough to go for it, so I will not do it now (even with prices about 15 k higher due to shortage). I suspect it is a little too...

Take the old one. The creamy lacquer is not that commonly used.

In fact this is one of Pateks best watches. The stepped case with stepped lugs and sapphire box crystal – simply fabulous!

5320G was snubbed just like Odysseus when it came out

and until a few months ago you could get one well under the rrp from private sellers. Amazing how opinion changes 🤔

yes, indeed

one year ago I could have gotten it with >10% off but now it is list price

Isn’t it just?!

The contrast between the two dials is quite striking.

Yes, the cream for me, however that does not mean I dislike the new version. Both are marvellous pieces!

I usually like salmon dials

But I guess their rose gilt description is accurate. Looks almost pink to me? Originally I'd say go for the new dial, but side by side, the original?

5088P is coming in September

Interesting to read that it might be the last year of production

I prefer the old one.

Interesting that the same metal is used for different dials, especially with the salmon. I would have thought the salmon would be matched with a P. Would you prefer the color to be the same or very close to 5270P ?

I would have preferred it to be a P and close to the 5270

but maybe as the initial version was found often at ADs / did not sell too well they decided to keep the price level and not offer a more expensive P? Thus also not providing a real salmon like dial? who knows...

Thanks for the fresh photo, Penfriend.

The salmon dial of 5320 does look more opaque and deeper in colour than 5270P. I guess one of the reasons may be due to the texture of dial: 5320 has a kind of thick lacquer dial; while 5270 has a metallic sunburst dial? Need to see it in person, without ...

Love your salmon dial !

yes, the 5320G is much deeper than yours

...the white (hand) and salmon contrast on the 5320G. the black and salmon contrast on the 5270P is much more subtle (disclaimer: i own a 5270P salmon).
