Also the areas where the blue feathers are towards the “tail” of the Phoenix. I wonder why the dial looks like that and it it was done purposely.

Hi 👋 all, Today at Christie’s in Hong Kong, three lovely enamel pieces were auctioned off !

The trio ! ☝️ The platinum peacock is made with cloisonné enamel and the colors are so vibrant ! The platinum peacock ☝️ started at HK$600k, went to HK$650k with one paddle, and it was sold at HK$812.5k (US$104k). The platinum Phoenix is made with cloison...

Thanks for sharing these three beauties Gordon -- I was looking at the results this morning, because of them and also the 'Ruby collection', which expectedly had a very strong showing.

These three enamel pieces are arguably gorgeous though probably not the most sough after, hence a very good performance also for them (as usual, like for any Patek rare handcrafts, way above MSRP)! Lucky the new owners, my favorite is definitely the Londo...

Thanks Fab for your kind words !

How much would the retail prices be for these three pieces ?

I'd have to check, but a reference 5089 or 5077 (or 5177, 5086, etc.) currently has an MSRP of around $100k (plus or minus a few $k depending on the model).

So for rare handcrafts going back 7 or 9 years, I would expect an MSRP of at most 70k to 80k, perhaps less. The London edition was in the low $90k, if I recall correctly ;-) Cheers.

Stunning pieces!

Thanks jleno !

Picture of Phoenix

 By: Patekfinity : November 29th, 2020-06:47
Is it the picture or does there look to be some kind of aberration on the upper part if the Phoenix with the gold wires not being contiguous and white color bleeding into the colored areas?? If it is, looks like the gold wires moved when this dial was fir...

Good catch ! Do you mean the ...

It was most certainly deliberate, as the gold wires appear this way in all the images I have seen of the 5077P-054. Here's for instance an 8-year-old thread on this very forum, which I believe contains Patek's press picture:

When they let me back to Italy I'll also check on my 2011 official rare handcraft catalogue, but I think there's no doubt this is how the 5077P-054 dials were originally intended ;-)

Thank you!

That is what I thought but it looked like an aberration if you carefully looked at the way the gold wires ended... Definitely love the details of the feathers and body. To me the Phoenix is the hardest one to make.

Thanks Fab for clarifying the...

Wow! Wonderful references in that link!

This is my favorite of all the references that was in the link you sent. I didn’t know this was even made!! ...

😳

Yep, they have been producing a few of these Nautilus themes "on ice" (references 5720) over the years, all of course really limited... On occasion, some also pop up at auctions.

 By: FabR : November 30th, 2020-08:01
Of course not for everyone, but definitely quite amazing. Even though it probably ( ) looks better on a rapper than on me (see below), frankly I never say never at this level of quality and exclusivity (the gemsetting in particular is pretty extraordinary...

Which enamel dials do you have ?

I will PM you next time when I see them appearing in auctions.

Thank you and thank you for your offer to notify me of future auctions. Yes it is both engraved and enamel.

This is a better description albeit sans reference to any diamonds. PP has not been able to offer an explanation as to that mention in the text. ...

WOW ! Amazing how your piece was made !

Are you sure that you now want just a cloisonne enamel dial ??

:) yours is beautiful

5131s and my Ulysses chinese zodiac ones

Thanks for the extra details. The reference to diamonds is obviously incorrect (probably just a copy-paste mistake, if I have to guess). Sometime Patek offers a men’s rare handcraft (5089 or 5077, etc.) along with a ladies version (e.g. 5089/100).

 By: FabR : November 29th, 2020-09:19
The two watches are essentially the same, except for diamonds on the bezel/lugs for the latter version. However, as far as I recall, a ladies version was never created for this piece😉 If you are interested, you may actually try to ask your AD or Patek for...
