...in Manhattan. In particular Michael Safdie? Met him today. Am thinking about a 3940. Thanks.

It’s funny. I purchased my 3940 from him.

The condition of mine was as advertised, and my experience was a good one. Let me know if you have any specific questions, and I’ll be happy to help through PM.

Michael Safdie- “Madison Time”

I have bought a couple of watches from Michael in the last 5 years. He’s a great guy, very knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. I make a point of visiting him and Chaim Diamond whenever I am in NYC. “Madison Fine Time” is a very special place. Highl...

My advice in this case: Take your money and run. Madison Time in Manhattan will cheat on you when they can. Sorry to say but I feel obliged to warn my friends.

This is an old thread and I am the original poster...can I ask why you say this?

I did not end up purchasing a watch (I was looking at some 3940s) from them. Michael was a little 'high-pressure' but he's a salesman. Can I ask your experience?

It’s funny this comes up again. I was just thinking of them a few days ago.

Interestingly he wouldn’t grant me an audience a few years back even though I called in advance to make an appointment. A business owners right to refuse to do business with anyone, but it did leave me puzzled. No harm done, I took my business elsewhere. ...

It was weird at first that I had to call for an appointment.

But it makes sense if you live in NY and you have a few million dollars worth of watches in your shop. I didn't expect to see Michael himself, he just happened to be there. When I was looking at a few different 3940s he walked away and went to his office ...

Hi that is a pity Care to elaborate ?

I know michael can be a bit pushy but his quality is impeccable Julian

Unfortunately,

it is the quality of (more than one) timepieces and how this bad quality was disguised before and even after the sales. I would say it is deception with intent, allowing the seller to rip off the buyer.

apologies No hesitation

I bought a 3940R

And it was as advertised. He is honest and it was a good experience. HODINKEE did an interview with him a few years back that you can find on their site. I’d buy again in a second without hesitation as stated by others.

Thanks to all...

...being an avid reader of all things watches it was indeed my sense that he was a straight shooter...was just looking for first-hand accounts. Amazing shop. I wasn’t set on buying a piece then and there so I passed on a 3940R. Thanks again to all. m
