I was very much interested in this new model since its presentation at Baselworld. As I never had the chance to see it live I never had a full impression of the watch, its size, its dial, its weight, etc. Today I’ve got the call from my dealer saying the ...

You must be one of the first to receive yours!

Congratulations! I too am waiting for one and hope it arrives before the year ends. I love everything about this watch and I can imagine it being one of my favourite Pateks in a while. It will be the only watch in my collection with a date which I would n...

Thx a lot, Sham.

I‘m looking forward very much to spending more time with this beauty. Especially the dial surface is very much intriguing to me. It has kind of a metallic effect to it and a beautiful cream tone. The very special font of the writing on the dial makes it v...

Yes the proportions are perfect

thanks to the gorgeous lugs. I too was worried about the 40mm size but once I tried it on, I was pleasantly surprised. I think 40mm was necessary for a dial with so much happening on it.

You´re absolutely right, mate. Thers is a lot going on on that dial and a certain size is necessary for an outbalanced look.

 By: cayenne1200 : September 5th, 2019-23:55
The 2-stepped lugs are extremely beautiful and well made. I prefer them very much over the 3-stepped lugs of the 5320

I agree with you!

 By: sham1 : September 6th, 2019-00:12
and even though both watches are 40mm, I found the 5320 too large even with the same lugs!! Again I think the busy dial of the 5212 helps.

Steel is the strongest material if comparing to gold and platinum. Period.

It might be difficult to get but when on the wrist, such a watch gives huge pleasure. Best, Kari

Yeah, it is a very nice piece. [nt]

 By: cayenne1200 : September 5th, 2019-11:51

No, not hand painted.

 By: cayenne1200 : September 5th, 2019-11:53
But the font is taken from the hand-writing of one of the Patek designers.

Very cool thanks. [nt]

... what I didn't love about this watch, is the dial that the most important Maison of the world could do by hand, instead it decides to make a print of a dial that seems made by hand.

 By: claudio969 : September 6th, 2019-01:56
Do I pretend too much from PP? Does the watch cost too little to actually make it by hand? I do not believe...

What do you mean with "doing by hand"? Every single letter and number hand painted on every single dial???

 By: cayenne1200 : September 6th, 2019-02:05
That would be simply impossible imho. I find it a very interesting idea and design achievement to use the handwriting of a personand create an individual new font type out of it. Cool ideas like that is what I expect and like on Patek.

... why impossible? once these works were handmade, and even more complex works. And even today, some artisan Watchmakers do much more demanding jobs by hand.

 By: claudio969 : September 6th, 2019-02:50
Hand-painted dials would not be a problem for PP, but they would be a cost. A cost that has been saved through printing. But for me, high watchmaking is something else ... PP has the watchmakers and the right skills, I think only the will is missing. imho...

Top top

This is an interesting question. Actually, I don’t know the answer yet, but I think the polo stick hand will jump from one week indication to the next. Patek says that the movement is following the international ISO norm for calendars which says that the ...

review as an owner !! Would love to hear your thoughts. Heard this 5212 is very popular due to its price point, metal and “functional” weekly calendar (for certain Europeans).

major congrats on this great piece

i think the 5212 is one of PPs great offerings as of late and this one is on my radar for sure
