The rumor is that they will stop production, Do you all believe it will be as good as the 5070P to keep in the long term.

not believe 5170P will perform as well 5070P at retail. Just my 2 cents

already out of production but still do not command the prices (not necessarily a premium) many thought they should. It is totally illogical to expect the price of a simple time only steel Nautilus currently in production relatively higher than an out of p...
Don't bother; get a watch you LOVE
By: Tim_M : January 20th, 2019-09:53
If you don't actually love a nearly 6-figure watch, and you're only buying it because it may someday be an "investment," there are literally dozens of safer and more certain vehicles for stashing your cash. Only buy luxuries that you love and plan to use,...
So you keep it only if becomes rare if not then you don't

Sorry I'm obviously missing something here...in the end your money your call it would be unfair from us to push you into investment that is doomed at very start as it is case with 99.9% of watches. Cheers D
Let me answer you with question

5070p produced for just one year with a maximum of 250 pieces made. The watch was sold out and impossible to buy. It sells in the secondary market at a big premium and always has 5170P produced for two years and is available at many AD as well as all over...
Patek's de-lema-(nia)
By: COUNT DE MONET : January 20th, 2019-23:49
One could argue that the used Lemania movement was in use in many, many other brands too. Under normal circumstances an inhouse movement is always more favourized but for some reason, that I do not really get, Patek's fantastic (!) movement was not been w...
Perhaps one of ....
By: dmas : January 21st, 2019-00:06
the reasons is that since it is an in-house movement Patek can make as many watches as they want in the near time whereas a 3rd party movement like the Lemania is no longer available to Patek, thus make those watches a rarity and more valuable in the eyes...
When you say it is much better movement?
By: guruvandergullik : January 22nd, 2019-03:03
How do you make such judgement? Is it finished better? Have you seen both movements side by side? I can tell you that the finish on the lemania is at least as good and probably better than the 5170 How any person defines a movement as better for worse mus...
I am comparing technical aspects only
By: COUNT DE MONET : January 22nd, 2019-08:51
Movement finish never bothered me that much. It should not look too crude, that is all I am askig for. Movement design is certainly another very important aspect. Top of the list is an inhouse balance spring made from a metal alloy. Patek does not have su...
Then we look at watches in a different way

When you say: Top of the list is an inhouse balance spring made from a metal alloy. That is a bit like saying that because Leonardo used lead based paint in his Mona Lisa it makes it technically inferior. I feel you are missing a lot of what watch collect...
I always thinking about the same thing..

Take a look at 5711.. technically nothing significant, plentiful produced yet it is high in demands and selling way above retail. Compared to 5235, it is just the opposite.
I like my 5170P more.

It’s a 5170p. You never mentioned it before, if I remember correctly (but I might have missed a thread or two).

I do love the 5170P, dial, case and movement. But I don't like all the 5170s the same. For instance, apart from the P, I prefer the versions with Breguet numerals. And I'm not a fan on sword hands. The 5070 is gorgeous, but not sure about the size of the ...
