A little time has passed and PP values seem to go up and up...

I think value should be an important consideration when spending this sort of money. But I would still put my money in the ALS as it feels so right. Rose gold and black dial would be my choice. Happy hunting!

So I didn’t get another Patek... but now I have my two grail watches what should I go for?

I have always wanted a hand wound chronograph and had my eye set on a 5170G. It was a good price and new... ... but then I got the chance of the rose gold Datograph and couldn’t resist! Trouble is now deciding what should be my next target. I appreciate s...

Suddenly you will find

something that will keep you awake at night. If it doesn’t - it’s probably not worth it in the long run.

Thats not a bad idea - they have some fantastic offerings

Myself, I both admire the PC+Chronos and I am also hesitant, mainly because of the PC. I have too many watches in rotation so I would have to set it up too often + I find them a little bit hard to read. But perhaps Im being too practical / over-thinking i...

get a Seiko column wheel chronograph and enjoy that for a while. You will like it a lot.

Hmmm, I checked out some GS at the ADs last year and the styling did not appeal to me.

I don't doubt the technical integrity and finish but GS doesn't speak to my heart. I bet they're hard to move on too. I've got an Orange Monster and a kinetic that I love.

What an excellent choice.

On my short list has been the exact same dilemma. As in same watches. I love PP, but for the money that A.Lange is wonderful. Enjoy finding the next watch to obsess about. The hunt and research is a big part of the fun. Once I tried on a PP 5164R. I did n...

I agree with following your heart.

What I actually meant , IMHO only, was that I think for the money you get more with the A. Lange Chrono than the PP. both are excellent, but the ALS finishing is amazing. i was not referring to grey market.

I agree with you Roger.

With both a Dato and a 5170 in the hand I prefer the Dato: on looks, finishing, feel and importantly value. I love the Breguet numerals on the Patek and in ideal world I’d have both! Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.

Westrop, sorry to revive and old post....

I'm interested in your most thoughtful comment on holding both the ALS Dato and the PP 5170 in your hands simultaneously. I'm in the same dilemma of lusting after both these watches. You liked the Dato better when comparing both? Was price AT ALL involved...
