A virtual visit to Rome :-)

 By: FabR : March 28th, 2020-15:38
Dear Friends, at this time of global concerns, which are causing travel restrictions all over the globe and particularly in my beautiful Italy, what can be better than taking all together a two-stop, virtual trip to Rome, thanks to our favorite watch bran...

When In Rome...

Why not enjoy the “Rare Handcrafts” of Patek Philippe ! Great post Fab, with each piece looking special in its own way. I particularly like the “Piazza di Spagna” piece.

Just being offered the choice....

Would be a great moment 🥂

I feel the steady flow of LE worldtimers with different city

 By: Patekphilippecollector : March 13th, 2020-09:00
And change of dial getting a bit repetitive and I think detracting from the exclusivity...also the celebrations seem a bit weak....they need to decide upfront whether it will be 150/200 years etc....but very soon it will be anything ...I didnt like the re...

I do agree there are 'many' special Worldtimer editions, though you should also consider Worldtimers are a natural to celebrate a different city, that's why they are chosen so often.

 By: FabR : March 13th, 2020-09:07
For the Hausmann celebration, personally I think it was a no-brainer: this event combined the 225th anniversary (quite a major event in itself!) with the opening of a Boutique, the second in all of Italy ;-) Cheers.

The opening of a boutique...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : March 13th, 2020-09:14
Has traditionally been celebrated in this way. It’s a good idea.

Sorry was referring to Bahrain edition was

50 years

I see Mexico was 25 years with LE of 40 [nt]

 By: Patekphilippecollector : April 30th, 2020-20:47

I also think they often consider "big years" as multiples of 25

 By: DOCSF : April 30th, 2020-21:56
The few exceptions that come to my mind are the 5230G-012 released for the Boodles 220th anniversary, 5936G-012 for the 5th anniversary of the Patek Philippe boutique in Tiffany & Co and 5205G-011 for the 5th anniversary of Beyer's Patek Philippe boutique...

I can't recall Patek releasing any pieces to commemorate an anniversary not a multiple of 5.

 By: DOCSF : May 2nd, 2020-00:53
If there are any hopefully some one can let us know. I think 5079J-010 (5 pieces) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Pragnell is very special as they don't normally release minute repeaters to commemorate retailer anniversaries.

Dear Fabrizio, first of all, huge congratulations on your new assignment as Patek Philippe moderator.

 By: Pretty Boy : March 13th, 2020-09:05
Thank you very much for taking over this task. 🙏 This is really good news for the Patek Philippe forum. Cheers for bringing all those beautiful special releases to our attention. The 5089G-081 is particularly nice. Thanks again, my friend. Best, V.

Thanks for a speculator tour of Rome ! Your post as a ...

moderator is great ! Love the enamel work but wonder why Patek and AD do not want to have a few enamel pieces to be purchased by collectors. I like the Calatrava with the blue dial very much because of the Roman numeral used for twelve o’clock !

Thanks my friend and Patek mod :-)

As soon as the world functions again, we seriously have to arrange an enamel GTG! I'm still hoping to come to Korea to speak at a couple of places in early August, but unfortunately now it's all on hold and time is running out (either we can finalize arra...

Wonderful pics, thank you for posting!

The first one is particularly nice.

Heartfelt congratulations 🥳🥂😘

By the way in love with the Castel Sant’ Angelo piece 😍

I was thinking "wow, these belong in a museum" to myself...

 By: Mike-On-A-Bike : March 13th, 2020-11:33
...as I was scrolling down, and indeed they are part of the museum collection! Many thanks for sharing these. Spectacular.

Dear Fabr..

These are exceptional pieces my good friend. Quite an exposition you drafted up for us. At a time of an, arguably, pandemic. ART, mechanical or otherwise, helps us remember that there are things in life we enjoy and have PASSION for. You reminded us this ...

Fantastic two pieces... I went into this AD last summer great service great PP Boutique

 By: FRAMII : March 13th, 2020-12:07
Maybe they should have received these two pieces to start their own museum as the AD has been in business longer then PP. And congratulations on becoming a PP moderator 👍 Fram

Such beauty! [nt]

Looks neat. Charming watches. Tfs. 👍

Many a postcard on your wrist. The air of exclusivity. Technical brilliance by Patek. 😎 Cheers. 🥂🍾, Fab. Geross

Nice pieces! Nice store too!

I've enjoyed my visits to Haussmann on Via Condotti.

Wonderful pieces .

 By: NautNut : March 13th, 2020-17:00
I would love the opportunity to possess any of them. Evokes warm feelings for our brothers and sisters in Italy especially at this horrible time.

Thank you

I actually secured one. Have not received yet but will post when I do.

Congrats!

Is it a fish?

:-) It took me quite a while to get them all (and I have to thank at least 5 Italian ADs plus the Paris Salon!). The 2019 was a *Christmas* gift in Milano when it was already January 2020...

 By: FabR : March 14th, 2020-11:49
Not sure about timings and distribution elsewhere, but by now your AD should have received at least one copy or be able to order it? (I'm sure the AD where you purchased the 5131 would be happy to try to help.) Cheers.

Thanks

I have just asked my AD.

Dear Fab, congrats for being our new moderator.

Thanks for bringing us to Rome by the two unique enamel pieces, they are gorgeous. Best, Henry

What a post!

Quite the joy to read... some amazing creations I have never before seen... pure class. Thanks for sharing!

What a lot, lovely post, Fab👍😊

Especially the two enamel pieces sing to me. And of the two in particular the one of Castel Sant Angelo. I love the way the perspective of the bridge was included and it captures the place. On the church, a sense of light and color in a lovely warm way. I...

Thanks my friend, in complete agreement -- wearable art in its most fascinating form :-) No surprise Patek employs the world's foremost artists to produce each of these rare crafts!

 By: FabR : March 18th, 2020-17:12
After the exposition at the Boutique in Roma, the first home to these two references was designated to be the Geneva Museum, where I'm sure they will be available at least for a while for everyone to admire. As for their long-term future, in particular wh...

Breathtaking

Two beautiful watches, really shows off the craft and teleports you to a different place. VC with their metiers d'art I notice doing these pieces more. Would be nice to see more from PP too!

Thanks for commenting TCF, and glad everyone has had a second chance to see these two beauties (I believe this is courtesy of a kind fellow mod who moved the thread to 'Editors picks' tonight).

 By: FabR : March 28th, 2020-17:20
'Rare handcrafts' are indeed an exceptionally beautiful line of Pateks, though they are unfortunately produced in a (very) limited number. Making each of these dials requires a significant amount of time, and Patek only hires a handful of artists to work ...

Thank you for this lovely post Fab, I really enjoyed reading it this Sunday morning

Due to COVID-19, I had to cancel my flight to Rome on March 5th. I also have 2 business trips to Milan scheduled in the months of May and June. Unfortunately, I have a strong feeling, those will not take place either. So reading and reminiscing had a spec...

Very appropriate in these times

The vision of the archangel was a sign that the plague had ended in Rome. The perspective gives it a 3 dimensional appearance.

Thanks Fab. [nt]

Thanks Doctor, I believe you are one of the first to comment on the Calatravas as well...Indeed two interesting 5296 new versions, I like the elegant but important dials.

 By: FabR : March 30th, 2020-11:15
The Roman XII is probably not a major shocker, but I think it gives these special editions a very personal touch. I hope the lucky recipients will treasure them for long! Thanks for commenting (just replied to your PM).
