The grail of grails

By: Mohannad (aka Riddler) : February 10th, 2020-11:32
The night 5370P No words needed as I’m still collecting my jaw This is what sex on a strap looks like ...

A truly wonderful piece

 By: russell996 : February 10th, 2020-11:38
Congratulations 🥳

Thank you but it’s not mine 😔

By: Mohannad (aka Riddler) : February 10th, 2020-12:59
But pleasurable experience nonetheless

It looks perfect on your wrist!

 By: sham1 : February 10th, 2020-11:42
Way too large for me when I tried it on at the Patek Salon two weeks ago. Well done on acquiring a sublime watch!

Thanks Sham

It’s for a friend of mine

A magnificent beauty for sure

By: Mohannad (aka Riddler) : February 10th, 2020-13:01
I wish I could claim it’s ownership specially as mentioned it has been discontinued

Exquisite

If this is 38-39mm

 By: CL : February 10th, 2020-14:33
and without Lume hands, this will be my ultimate grail. Right now my grail Patek is either 3448, 5959 or 5004. 2499 is non achievable.

I tried this on (a friend's watch)...

 By: mdg : February 10th, 2020-15:26
and for me it was at the edge of the size I prefer to wear. But it was perfectly acceptable on my 7.25" wrist. And it is indeed a beauty : )

I envy your wrist size :-)

 By: CL : February 10th, 2020-15:38
If I have a 7.25" wrist, many contemporary watches will be perfect size for me. Even the vintage small watches will look good and refine on a big wrist. Sigh.

The 5959 is fantastic, but like the 5950 (my grail) I have not seen one in person.

 By: mdg : February 10th, 2020-15:55
I don't mind wearing 'small' watches, but I do value thin watches, or at least those that have an appropriate hight to width ratio. Some of the older complications are very thick imho....too much for a 'dress' watch. When spending this kind of $ it is alw...

5959 please [nt]

 By: Gelato Monster : February 10th, 2020-15:39

amazing, true grail

 By: Gelato Monster : February 10th, 2020-15:40
its not single its multiple on a strap

Not everyone’s grail.

 By: Miles_151 : February 10th, 2020-23:40
Change the dial and hands and there you have a grail. Good job we all hunt different grails. Great case and movement though. Hope your friend finds years of pleasure with his watch. M.

It's spoiled by it's size ;(

 By: IndieFan : February 10th, 2020-23:56
I really wanted to love this piece and have tried it on multiple times... but it just doesn't fit well on my wrist. A 47mm Greubel Forsey looks better on my wrist than this 5370P... it's just an unusual fit. If it was 2mm smaller with an improved lug desi...

Maybe a 5204 would fit you better

By: Mohannad (aka Riddler) : February 11th, 2020-00:17
It’s thicker but smaller diameter

Yessss

 By: Jurry : February 11th, 2020-03:35
Now you’ve got me because there are only 2-3 Patek models I really like and this is one of them. If I’m not mistaken this one still has the Lemania movement doesn’t ? It looks stunning. I know of only one brand who has such a similar real black dial with ...

Thank you for looking [nt]

By: Mohannad (aka Riddler) : February 11th, 2020-09:00

5204 is great but the thickness and case size

By: Mohannad (aka Riddler) : February 11th, 2020-09:05
Make it feel a bit stacked and weird looking on my wrist

I have to agree [nt]

 By: Langeholic : February 13th, 2020-23:10

Have you seen them side by side in the metal?

 By: Langeholic : February 13th, 2020-23:10
I made this assumption too when I looked at them in pictures, but found a world of difference in the metal. The 5370P has a lot of wrist presence as well as intricate details that one only appreciates in person.

The black enamel dial and the finishing of 5370P is completely different to the 5170

 By: DOCSF : February 11th, 2020-16:50
5204 is an awesome watch but I am not a fan of the upside down moon phase and squashed numerals on the 5204. I prefer the 5372P

Totally agree! [nt]

 By: Langeholic : February 13th, 2020-23:03

A couple of extra photos to keep yours company

 By: russell996 : February 11th, 2020-11:34
If I could upload the images I would. 🤔

Couple of pics to add to yours.

 By: russell996 : February 11th, 2020-14:22
...

Great photos!

 By: DOCSF : February 11th, 2020-17:00
I recall an author mentioning the black enamel dial of 5370P is "darker than the Satan's basement"! I hope they come up with a 5370P with a blue enamel dial and Breguet numerals.

“Darker than satans basement” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Absolutely magnificent [nt]

By: Mohannad (aka Riddler) : February 11th, 2020-22:07

Nice strap...

 By: mdg : February 12th, 2020-09:24
Really changes the look...makes it seem sportier. On the lume issue, I don’t mind it at all. White gold hands can get lost on a black dial...the lume makes it very easy to read. And a split-second chrono is the definition of a ‘sporty’ watch.

2nd Patek grail watch after 5970P if only it weren't so common ...

 By: eric.vonschonberg : April 4th, 2020-13:53
The aesthetics of this watch are amazing. The 5970P as nice as it is looks not nearly as beautiful when you look at them both together. The 5370P introduction was simply very bad timing. It was introduced at a time when the world was moving away from dres...

Do you mean 5370P or 5970P

 By: eric.vonschonberg : April 7th, 2020-22:54
For a second I thought the 5370P had been discontinued and I just hadn't heard about it. But, I checked Patek's website, and it's still there, so as far as I know it has not been discontinued (either that or they haven't gotten around to updating their we...

Thanks for the source estimating 5970Ps

 By: eric.vonschonberg : April 9th, 2020-22:37
That particular estimate is the highest I've seen so far for it. Over the years I recall postings to this message board and others providing other estimates. I wish Patek would simply disclose the actual number.

I am asking about the 5370P

 By: jonrus : April 8th, 2020-03:11
You posted that many have been made. I thought that split second chronograph are rare. Enamel dials are rare. A watch with both should be rare, especially for a PP.

I was joking when I implied there must be many 5370Ps made

 By: eric.vonschonberg : April 9th, 2020-22:38
It just seems that way since there are always many on Chrono 24.

Just to confirm, the 5370P has been discontinued. Patek have yet to update their website.

 By: russell996 : April 8th, 2020-05:23
As to numbers, only Patek know, but there are currently 16 5970P's on Chrono24 and 16 5370P's. This suggests far fewer 5370P's were made as it hasn't yet moved to the collector market when the number of advertised pieces for sale decreases.

Super glad to hear 5370P discontinued

 By: eric.vonschonberg : April 9th, 2020-22:43
I found it irritating that Patek kept on making them when obviously the fact that there are always many for sale on Chrono 24 means that the market already has more 5370Ps than it can absorb. Right now, while dress watches have fallen out of favor, I expe...

Now this is A WATCH!

 By: RGS : April 22nd, 2020-07:16
An R is coming for 2020 and I recently saw a pre release photo of another white metal version - probably another P with a white enamel dial.... or was it an A? Ha! That would be something....

5370P

 By: Glenn : April 22nd, 2020-13:33
Nice....Heard a white gold / blue dial as well.

Isn’t the P usually issued last on a series?

 By: jonrus : April 23rd, 2020-04:47
I am surprised that this is not the case here.

Earlier versions of 5004 and 5204 were platinum as well.

 By: DOCSF : April 23rd, 2020-05:27
The "last 50" of 5004 were steel.

Yes, both 5004 and 5204 had platinum first.

 By: RGS : April 23rd, 2020-09:22
Then in other metals. The 5204 did not have a G. Just P and R. I think we will have a 5370R and a 5370G this year. Maybe a limited A for a final run after 3-5 years?

I also heard there would be a 5370R with a black dial, a white metal 5370 with a blue dial and another white metal 5370 with a white dial.

 By: DOCSF : April 24th, 2020-01:18
I am not sure whether the white metals are P or G. I was told it is extremely hard to make a blue enamel dial so I am not sure whether they would release a blue enamel dial similar to that of 5539G

Three new variations in just one year?

 By: RGS : April 24th, 2020-06:15
It seems like an overkill. The R is definitely happening. As for a second white metal version, it should be another P, with white dial. A third white metal version in G? If it happens, then the G will have a blue dial as you say. I would prefer a - very -...

Doubt it, the piece is double assembled and final assembly and adjusting is 3 months.

 By: russell996 : April 25th, 2020-02:12
The piece is also produced in the high grand comps dept so by the top tear of watchmakers. 5270 is not double assembled.

I was told we would see those variations at some point but not sure whether they would release all three at the same time.

 By: DOCSF : April 25th, 2020-00:52
I also think it would be an overkill if they release all 3 new variations at the same time. They have done a 5950/1A and a 5950A so we may also see a 5370A in future.

The watch is awesome!

 By: jonrus : April 23rd, 2020-18:20
However, after reading these posts, I looked up the after market values, I cannot understand what is the reason for the low values. Are Patek complications that are application pieces not so collectible anymore?

Very nice 👍 [nt]
