This morning I received a response from Parmagiani to my question regarding the Tonda dials.

Jan 21, 2025,12:37 PM

I had asked whether or not the Tonda PF dials were hand turned or stamped. The representative from PF stated that all Tonda PF dials are hand guilloged except the Skeleton, the Platinum Natural Platinum and the Tourbillon. The older collection-the Tonda PF Sport-did not have engine-turned dials.

So all the micro-rotor models and chronographs and rattrapantes indeed have hand guillochet dials.

Great information. Regardless of how they make them, I see nothing but beauty when I look at the dials. Love this brand.

I agree, the Milano Blue dial is superb.

The response from PF is confirmation the dial is not stamped. I suppose there is room for interpretation in the term guilloche for the pattern to be either hand or CNC executed. Maybe someday we get a tour of the manufacture and see the process first hand...

I’m 100% sure that is backwards

In the video interview with watchadvisor, guido says they are done with cnc. Looking at them, they appear to be cnc too. There are none of the “smudges” you typically see with true rose engine guilloche.

You’re suggesting that the woman who corresponded with me lied?

And in which video did Torreni use the term “cnc”? I can’t find it. He said the dials were “machine turned” in one.

That seems to be in contradiction to what I was told via email today, from a representative of PF.

The exact phrase was "hand crafted Grain d'orge guilloché pattern, achieved through traditional hand-turning techniques". The writer went on to say that the confusion regarding non-hand-turning may be stemming from the Tonda PF Sport watches which are not...

You're making a statement but you're not backing it up with anything.

What information do you have, and from where, that would prove, or suggest, that Parmagiani is making a false claim about their dials?

I think you’re getting upset at the wrong person (s)

I’m actually not here to please your requirements so I’m giving as much attention as I see fit.

Okay. Fair enough.

And I’m not upset with you. I’m trying to find out if PF is being honest.

PF is a hard nut to crack when it comes to clear statements…

The ceo did make an assertion in a video, as you earlier said, that the dial is hand made but he then walked that back. This topic did come up at the PF launch time and I watched various videos and interviews to clarify what was what? At this point it’s a...

Just to add to the fire…

…reading an article about the PF from last year on watchesbysjx (a publication I tend to think is more accurate and detailed than others) it states the following: “ Notably, the dial decoration is traditional guilloche done on a hand-operated straight-lin...

My question regarding the Milano Blue chronograph dial: "We have a technical debate ongoing on our forum about the Tonda PF Milano Blue Chronograph: is the dial guilloche executed by hand or by CNC?" The reply I received: "The dials of the Tonda PF are ha...

When it comes to a masterpiece of minute detail, the watch’s dial is absolutely that and more. The grain d’orge guilloché pattern is applied to the brass dial using a CNC (computer numerical control) machining process. But the challenge put forth by Terre...

I read that in Revolution magazine just recently.

By: TheMadDruid : January 25th, 2025-14:16
And discounted it because it was an article written by Wei Koh, and it was for a LE sold through Revolution. I did not see (or know) that the article appears on Parmagiani's website. But given everything else the Forumers here have discovered it seems no ...
