Springbars - I found a source!

So whenever getting a bespoke strap made by any of the strap makers as Camille Fournet or the OEM Jean Rousseau the answer to the request for quick release springbars is always no because they don’t have them, and when Rousseau makes the OEM straps (or you order through an FPJ boutique) they are supplied with the bars by FPJ.

After a lot of trial and error I stumbled on the exact correct bars with the Patek type stepped pin at one end and the flat topped button. These are in fact 1mm longer than a standard QR springbar so easily absorb the slight shortening that happens from being curved to such an extreme.

They are available as single pieces from Esslinger. Use the code on the packet to order.

And after curving!!

Thank You so much. It is highly appreciated!

Could you please tell us about the tool used for curving the springbars?

Thank you
Cordially

Christian

Cheap tool that I have in my shop.

Needs some extra hand bending as well as the tool cannot curve enough. Just be careful not to kink the tube and check the plungers are free to move.

Super! Thank you 🙏 [nt]

Camille Fournet supplies straps with these springbars

 By: Maltie : June 14th, 2019-00:54
They are the producer of Patek straps

Sorry but they certainly do not supply them.

Camille Fournet are a company I use regularly for my customers bespoke straps, and they’re making my own FPJ strap right now, and they told me they’re not able to supply them. They do supply standard straight QR springbars but not curved.

Ooops I didn't see curved 😬

Thanks and a few questions

Thanks very much for this very useful information, much appreciated!

A question, however: do you know of anyone who supplies these springbars in precious metals?  I ask as I understand that you should match the springbar material with the case material, so as to prevent damage to the springbar holes in the watch lugs (which I understand might happen if you use steel sprinbars on a gold watch).  Hence Patek provide PM springbars for their PM watches.  Or is the risk an overstated one?

In this regard, do you know if the springbars in FP Journes are also in PM, or are they steel?  For what it's worth, I note that the quick release springbars that are on watches made by some of the independent makers out there are steel coloured, irrespective of the colour/material of the watch itself.

Kind regards, kkwn98.

Great but have you tried it on your Journe watch?

JR does provide curved spring bar but they claim that they are not able to curve the spring bar the way Journe's does so it doesn't fit quite correctly on Journe's watches.
That's what they told me when I was in their NYC store.

So my bespoke strap just arrived and my QR springbars fit perfectly

I help customers choose bespoke straps and fit them for a living and I was very confident that I had shaped the curve correctly that they’d fit just fine so I’m not sure why J Rousseau would even say that! My understanding is JR cannot supply the same type of quick release springbars that FPJ uses, the same situation exists with Camille Fournet.

The Jean Rousseau NYC boutique manager told me that FPJ supplies OEM QR curved spring bars but they are for FPJ boutique orders only - they are not available to the public.
The NYC boutique has had no problem supplying me with (non-QR) springbars that fit FPJ watches. Also, Jean Rousseau London offered to curve QRs if I supplied them, so I don't really buy that excuse from the NYC store.
