Arrival -- TAG Heuer x Fragment Design Heuer 02 chronograph ("Fragment Design Formula 1").

Awesome -- 12 hours after arrival, my favorite TAG Heuer chronograph, ever . . . and even though you won't see the name on the watch, the best looking Autavia-inspired chronograph, ever.

Here are a couple of quick photos . . . Not sure whether or not the rules allow me to link to a site with additional photos.

Love this watch!!

Jeff

thanks for posting Jeff. I like the clean dial. [nt]

It's a Matter of Your Mood

That's a good question, but so far (through the first 24 hours), I don't really have a preference. The same way that I enjoy the vintage Carreras and Autavias, and the look of the 1960s versus 1970s, it depends what kind of look you want. I tend to be an Autavia guy, so I am guessing that the Formula 1 emerges as the favorite!!

By the way.... love your website Jeff!

I like the restraint of the dial design, but now the tachy bezel seems busy or dated...I think that should have also been `sterilized` in some way. More modern font maybe, less hashes or

smaller digits. I dont think it is a good match. But i am happy for you so enjoy it !! My favorite is the cbe2118 , also a 2 register with date.

I must agree, the bezel could be improved. for me, i think removing the ridges would be sufficient, since it doesn't add value anyway, [nt]

Fixed Bezel; It's All for Decoration

 By: OnTheDash : July 22nd, 2020-13:05
Yes, some people question the ridges / grips on a fixed (non-rotating) bezel, but to my eye, it's all about style. People never (or very rarely) use the Tachymeter bezel at all, so it is also more of a decoration. My best guess -- this is the style bezel for the current Formula 1 chronographs, so they left it alone for the Fragment version. Also, I wonder whether making it rotate would have made the case thicker. This case is 44 mm across the dial, but a nice 14.4 on the thickness . . . and I'm all for keeping this kind of case thin.

Fully agreed. a rotating tachymeter bezel doesn't make any sense. which is why i was saying, it would be best to remove the ridges/grips. it will further simplify the design. Cheers [nt]
