When I first started collecting vintage Rolex, it was the Daytona that really grabbed my attention. As i matured as a collector, and as my tastes changed, my attention got pulled had by the Submariners....particularly the Sea-Dweller. Nonetheless, from my original bag of Daytos, I have still kept the very first twio that I bought....both 6239s. The scan is when I held all 5 (set against the Atmos!!).

I own a white 16520 and I am very happy with. I will certainly add a black 16520 to do the pandi panda Dayto, and maybe I will get a vintage Dayto. Then, Basta.

The problem with the Daytona is that it is like a train which has long gone without you on board.

If you miss the train, it will be very diificlut to catch it.

The Dayto has reached the sky, without me.

But if your question is more general, yes, I am going overboard for many other watches. The Rolex GMT, for example, the Vintage JLCs, and... The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.

Those are the trains I didn't miss...

But did you ever go overboard and then reverse the situation? Daytos...i went from 5 to 2. 

In my whole story with the FFs, I only sold 4 of them, well, 3 and a trade on the 4th... As you well know.

BUT I do regret the three I sold. Especially a certain Bund I would have been better inspired to keep.

Nicolas- I have learnt in life that the trains never leave the station forever. Meaning yes you might have missed a few stops but eventually you will get your chance. Weather you even want it or need it, that is another question all together.

For some reason I have not had a chance to go overboard yet. I love to many brands and lack resources to go overboard in a way which would be excessive. But going overboard is probably part of the collecting experience. I might go overboard with subs or GMTs but I am not there just yet.

... and it is so interesting to read (and view) how fellow collectors here feel about this matter.

Personally, I had always thought that when a person buys more than three or four objects of same kind (be it knives, guns, cars or watches -or whatever for that matter-) he begins a perilous journey which will inevitably led him to go overboard in some point of his long trip.

Viewing my own collection, I feel that I definitively have gone overboard in some areas like Submariners, GMT´s and Date Just, and have made no corrections to this circumstance.

Point is to determine how much is too much for me. I couldn´t find an answer to this question... yet.

And with the 2 you have left, it still is!  Enjoy those two.  I am just starting to see the allure of the vintage Daytona.  I like the clean silver dials, without the red "Daytona".  And I think I favor the black bezel over the silver bezel, but I also think I favor the pump pushers over the screw down pushers.  So, that leaves me stuck, as there is no model for me that checks all my boxes!  Haha!

Great collection though, and I think you held on to the right two!

And actually there are models of your preference.. 

I have never even heard of a 6264 with a black dial.  You learn something new every day on this forum - esp as a newbie.  It appears to be a VERY rare beast.
