Officine Panerai

working on a deal to get my first panerai and i dont know what to get.  im looking at the 277J which i love but i think its too much money.  i also like the 311K which is basically the smae but not gold.  the 277 is bnib and the 311 is preowned but the price difference is very significant.   the question i have is, is the 277J worth the extra money???  is it that much more "special".  any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If a watch is available in different metals (Gold, Platinum, etc....), I have an issue with paying the premium for a precious metal, when the SS version is essentially the same watch for MUCH less money, as you pointed out.

The only time I would consider a precious metal case is if it were unique and only offered in that variation.

This is my personal thoughts on the matter, so my advice would be to save the money and get the SS version............but that's just me

So if you prefer stainless steel over titanium, I'd get the PAM275 (stainless steelversion) instead of the PAM311 (titanium version).

Whether or not the PAM277 (pink gold version of the PAM275 / PAM277) is "worth" the extra money is very subjective.  If you want the flash and glitz of a 44mm Panerai pink gold Luminor 1950 case, then the PAM277 is a perfect watch for you.

not sure about 277 with 1950 rose gold case, but 311's tobacco dial with darkened titanium combination has a unique appeal to me, i believe i'll eventually get a 311 if they dont offer such a combo in 8-Day or 10-Day series.
imo, most panerai lovers go for simple dial and durable material due to its history as a military tool watch, but that's just me
