I am working on that. I will not build a big collection, but a 4 or 5 pieces maxi. Most probably 3.

Did you identify the first 3 reference you would get?

I have to be honest with you....

 By: sergio : February 11th, 2021-15:56
..Nico (as always). I place the 001, at the bottom of the "early ones" list. The missing 9 on the dial, took long to get used to, for me at least smile

Yes, you are right, me too. PAM 36 / 40 for me along with 202/A and 201/A. Then, Pre V Mare smooth bezel. Then, 372, 587 / 662 / 249.

Been reading up on the pre-vendome to early vendome pieces to understand the DNA of a pure Panerai.
Did you see the new platinum luminor with a green dial? What are your thoughts about this Sergio?

Here is a shot of PAM36/40 from someone we know.

Nico’s pic

This duo is to die for.

Much as I love the...36

 By: sergio : February 12th, 2021-07:00
for it's tobacco dial and the 4 lines, I've never had any feeling whatsoever for the 40. Had the chance to buy it, a couple of times, but just wasn't interested. To me, the 40, it's just the titanium version of the 001 (sorry Nico). I've just had a look at the PAM1116...on line...and thanks but NO thanks. The sunbrushed green dial, it's rather interesting (if you like green), but the Automatic, the date and the 9 WITH the seconds counter, on a 44mm dial, just don't do it for me. If I want a busy dial, I just buy a Breitling smile

Picture obtained on the Web.

Well said

I will patiently wait for this phoenix to arise from the ashes again.

Well, the PAM 40 also has this part of mystery. We had endless discussions here or there about the fact to know if it came first or after the PAM 36. It might well be before, as a proto.

I have been part of...

the discussion all along, I'm sure. I think I've been around for more than 15 years..haha I am aware of the aura and mistique of the 40 BUT, for me, it still looks like a titanium's 001 :P lollllll

Aaah, you!!! ;)

The best pams are the simpler ones, not the moon phase-split chrono GMTs... but this is still pure enough for me.. besides their small seconds is unique and slick. Not a perfectly balanced

dial but maybe that's a nice counterpart (or option) to perfect symmetry.
