I contacted my AD to further enquire about the change of the caseback of my Navigator from steel to sapphire (getting the original info here obviously - Thanks Art!).

They were not aware, so they had to check with GO. When they got back to me, they told me that it was possible, but that I could not keep the steel caseback if i switch (I was hoping to have both and have them changed at the AD when I felt like).

I have seen the pics of Nico's LE Nav, and it looks great. But the steel caseback is also very nicely finished, and is extremely appealing with its simplicity. So I am a bit confused whether to change it or not, and I would appreciate your feedback and your opinions.

Your AD is correct...

You can switch your solid case back for a sapphire one, but they really keep the solid case back, in this case.

I had this dilemma, as I wanted a Sen ator Navigator with 2 different Case Backs...And it wasn't possible.

I didn't want to switch the solid case back for a sapphire one, even if the sapphire lets you admire the magnificient Cal 100, because it was not historically correct:

Did you ever see a Pilot Watch with a sapphire case back???

So, I was on to buy a noram Senator Navigator, till I saw ( Here ) the LE for Rimowa.

With this LE, you have a Senator Navigator with a very clean dial, and ...2 different case backs!

The Rimowa was a LE of 100 pieces for the Asian Market only, and all sold out, as I tried to get one ofr one of my friends, and I was told that it was no longer available...

It will be a rare and difficult bird to catch, my friend.

. . . because the option runs out at the end of the year, I believe. Personally, I would leave the steel caseback for reasons of fidelity to the original, but that's just my humble opinion; if you want a view of a great G O movement, my suggestion would be to . . .

. . . source a Karree Panodate with the sublime cal 22 movement . . . now that's what I call a view! Cordially, Art

. . . there is an option for having both a steel and sapphire caseback with identical registry numbers. You will have to surrender your original caseback, but you can switch back and forth to your heart's content with a matched set. Art, your point regarding the original intent of GO to have a solid caseback is well taken, but I guess when you have such a movement it would be a shame not to enjoy it and I speak of experience having the PG as great example In any case I would definitively enquire about having the 2 options And Nico, thanks for those great pics, I am ashamed of mine, that is the best I could do. and decided to get the sapphire case-back (watch had been sent to my local Swatch Service Centre since early September and hoping to get it back soon) ...

. . . after all, how many of us will actually use a pilot's watch for it's intended purpose. The 'convertible' option is probably the best choice for the conflicted . . . cordially, Art
