last night i went into the heart of the Sussex countryside to see 2 stars of the British blues rock scene. Ron Sayer and then Larry Miller. both have been awarded the accolade of being best British guitarist in the British blues awards, but their styles are totally different.

Interesting to see that skateboard shape of his musical instrument.  G99, do you shoot RAW or jpeg?  Have you experimented with the white balance settings on your camera?

i shoot in jpeg. i know i should shoot in raw  but i find the manipulation afterwards too much hassle and the buffer is a lot slower.
for some reason i also shot in colour when i normally shoot in b&w.
as for white balance. awb for me despite having 18%grey card in my bag.
i tried some bounce flash with a diffuser, but that made it overbright with colour hue so i deleted those.
need to practise with raw, custom white balance, flash and all the other stuff i didnt get taught.

Post processing is a bit of work but there are advantages of shooting in RAW.   Have you downloaded the trial versions of programs like Lightroom or Elements?

i've got elements 9, just never learnt how to use it.
will try raw+jpeg next time.

I have Elements and use it to do my panorama shots.  I had to upgrade the memory on my pc as the files were huge.

my laptop is a bit battered but loads of space. thinking of getting a small 2tb hard drive as back up for photos and music. it will work with my tablet as well so very handy.

i really must investigate raw and its benefits.

One of the things that works well is reducing the redness on the face with Elements.  

that would be useful. must read up on it.
