Yeah they make good clocks way back. Too bad they all seem made of cheap plastics these days.
and it is pretty nice. I like that the speakers have metal grills, so I don't inadvertently puncture them at 7am though the knob interface is a bit odd for controlling things, it isn't bad and had all the functions I needed

Bedside Alarm Clock
My Philips Radio Alarm clock has kicked the bucket and I'm thinking to get something more 'interesting'. Looking around on the internet, I just realized that it isn't easy to find a nice alarm clock.
Anyone has one to recommend?
My requirements are dual alarm, non-fugly and preferably runs on AC power.

i've just got a cheapo mains operated thing that would wake the dead
it was my wifes alarm clock and she left it on her side of the bed when she left me. i started using it a couple of months ago and it works perfectly, too perfectly for my liking. nothing subtle about it as the radio doesnt get a reception so i have to have the loud and harsh beeping. it does have a snooze button which is good, but the readout is so bright i have to have it pushed against the wall. i think it was the equivalent of less than $10 and does what i need it to do.

My favorite wake up apparatus of all time was...
...a friend of mine many years ago, whose sleeping habits were so bad that in order to wake himself up, he bolted 2 hardware store paint shakers to his bed and had his stereo, with speakers pointing down to the bed from either side, set to play the "Star Spangled Banner" at full blast when the timer went off.
