Purists are widely dispersed across the globe. I think it might be interesting if we each post images from our home cities. It may be a recognisable landmark, something artistic or something a little more personal, but I will leave that up to you. The only pre-requisite is that it comes from ‘home’ for you.

and I'll add (and you proabably already know this), the math/science building at Harvard was donated by Edwin Land, founder of Polaroid and one of the great inventors of the 20th century.  Attended Harvard but never received a degree.  The building itself with its stepped design looks like an old-fashioned bellows camera, perhaps even one of the old Land cameras with its accordion extension.  The white projection on the top left of your photo represents the shutter release.

Hi Bob, yes, my avatar is the steering column of the Mach 5.  One of my "appointment TV" shows from the 1970s.  At the time, I tried to persuade my parents that we should paint a "5" on the doors of their '68 Ford.  Request denied without much discussion.

Quick, now, without looking it up, what functions do the seven buttons activate?!?!

Oh, oh. I should have been paying more attention to the tv series to distinguish the buttons. In no particular order, Cutting blades, Automtic jack, Spare tires and the last one I know is some type of Homing device. Don't know the rest. :-P

Los Angles is where I call home.  Lots of landmarks nearby the Hollywood Hills where I live:



Hollywood &Highland complex where the Kodak theatre resides.

Since was born and raised in L.A., I never really took too many pics of the city.  Maybe I should?

That was precisely my motivation for starting this thread. We all tend to post great pictorials of cities and places we visit when on holidays or travelling, but forget about 'home'. Plus I am sure we would all be interested to see a bit of where our PPro friends hang out.

The series of images I posted was from an afternoon walk from my office, through the University, past the Museum and Exhibition Building, through the park and down to a meeting in the old Magistrates' Court. So they are all within walking distance and show a little of what is around me.

In Spanish, Los Angeles means 'The Angels; and is nicknamed 'the City of Angels'.

Agree with shooting our hometowns, maybe we should start a photo assignment for our fellow TimeOut PuristS to go out and take landmarks around their home city!

Hi Ming, the movie "City of Angels" has always been one of my favorites .... it has a certain atmosphere which i think gives a good picture on how LA really is .. (?) ... .

Antway, i have the impression i could feel myself at home easily in LA ... or even SF .... .

Hello Traveling-BIM!

If you can check out 'L.A. Story' starring Steve Martin (the comedian not the Australian SBK rider! ) and Sarah Jessica Parker which takes a hilarious and sarcastic view of Los Angeles.  I'll have to take some pics of the ocean and city views from my relatives in the Palos Verdes Estates, that will make everyone want to move to L.A.!

many thanks, Andrew for these beautiful photos which help me recall those days when i was studying there. the law faculty is beautiful, if you have a chance to pass by there at night time, the view is even much nicer!

in your first pic, we usually have our examination held there.

i had revisited there with my family few years ago, may be it is time to visit there again.

Pleased I brought back some memories for you. I did a few exams in the Exhibition Buildings myself, although I try and suppress those memories! It is a lovely space, particularly since they completely renovated the interior.
