...that Sir Ian McKellen will star as 'Number 2' and Jim Cavaziel as 'Number 6' in a movie version of Patrick McGoohan's cult series 'The Prisoner'. Those of us with sufficient grey hair and a masochistic bent will remember the series very fondly. Ironic that it should finally come to the big screen in the year that McGoohan left the mortal coil.
There can be no middle ground here - it will either be a terrific homage or a disappointing flop. Some of us still have not recovered from the 'Bonfire of the Vanities' experience.

...as there is no installment of the Bond franchise this year. Luckily, even in an off-Bond year I've got plenty of blockbusters to see!
1. G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra -- my favorite 80's cartoon gets the big screen treatment! When I was little I had all the action figures. As the only little girl in a neighborhood full of boys, I was always Scarlett, which was fine by me. She could kick some tail just as well as the other G.I. Joes!
2. X-Men Origins: Wolverine -- A feature film about the origin story of my favorite mutant that will also feature Gambit and Dead Pool, two of the coolest characters in the Marvel universe!? 'Nuff said. *snikt*
3. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince -- Loved the book, and have so far been fairly satisfied by the film adaptations. I'm looking forward to getting back to Hogwarts.
4. The Wolf Man -- a re-imagining of the classic Universal horror film. This one will star Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, and Emily Blunt. With FX wiz Rick Baker behind the transformation from man to wolf, get ready for some spectacular special effects sequences!
5. Watchmen -- everyone said it couldn't be done. A 2-hour movie adaptation of arguably the greatest comic book of all time. I think it's a great cast of Hollywood up-and-comers directed by the super talented Zak Snyder, so I'm giving this film the benefit of the doubt.
6. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen -- Two words. Optimus. Prime. Another 80's cartoon come to life. The first one was great escapist fare IMO (if not a "great" movie per se). I love robots, so robots fighting against each other with the fate of all mankind hanging in the balance? Point me to the boxoffice.
7. Star Trek -- I will watch anything written, produced or directed by J.J. Abrams, I believe in his talent that much. This is after all, the man who brought the world Alias, Lost, and the brilliant but short-lived Firefly (R.I.P. Captain Mal and the rest of the Serenity crew). Plus, the trailers have been brilliant.
8. Angels & Demons -- I will freely admit to enjoying the film adaptation of the Da Vinci Code (I can hear groans emanating from the computer as I type this), although the book was much better, naturally. Tom Hanks is a great actor to watch in quiet moments. I have high hopes for Angels & Demons, because I think the book is light years better than Da Vinci Code. I just hope they style Tom Hank's hair differently...
9. Avatar -- James Cameron is another director whose work I will always fork over my $12 to see. The idea of him filming a 3-D scifi film using a new filming technology is worth the price of admission.
10. Sunshine Cleaning -- Now you are scratching your heads, because every other movie on this list is a major studio blockbuster waiting to happen, and you've possibly never heard of this little film being released by the new-ish studio in town (Overture Films). I probably would never have heard of this movie either if my friend wasn't working on it. It looks like a quirky dramedy, and the trailer made me laugh out loud (always a good sign with me). It stars Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, and Alan Arkin, and is apparently about two sisters who start a crime scene cleanup business. I know. Weird.
As far as film Bonds go, Sean Connery will always be the best for me. My favorite movie Bonds in descending order:
Sean Connery
Daniel Craig
Roger Moore
Pierce Brosnan
George Lazenby
Timothy Dalton
Isn't it amusing that James Bond is a character so closely tied to England, yet of the men who have portrayed him on screen only two are actually English (Connery's a Scot, Brosnan is Irish, Lazenby is Australian, and Dalton is Welsh)? The fictional Bond from Fleming's books is not even English! The character's father is a Scotsman and his mother, Swiss! Regardless, James Bond is such an iconic character, who could fault any nation for claiming him as their own!

Enthusiasm clouded my posting! I love Joss equally well!
starring christian Bale...
i think it'll be THE 09 hit and THE BLOCKBUSTER of the year
also there are:
All of those movies look great. Of your list, Public Enemies, is the one I am most excited about...Michael Mann directs Johnny Depp and Christian Bale?! A match made in movie-buff heaven! Thanks for reminding me of some significant oversights on my list!
Cheers,

it looks way coool

I thought it was a universal rule!
The first three Garbage albums contain some of the best pop-rock songs of the late 90's/early 2000s. Plus, she sang a Bond theme song, so extra points for that.
