I usually play 5/10 no limit or 10/25 no limit. I notice many players on the table wear AP.
Wonder if it might be one of us
I usually wear my SINN watch while playing Poker.
I think this is such a nice gentleman game, how I hope they can make a stricter rule on the attire in this club.
It should be like Casino Royale
And the watch has to be 'NICE'.

I was thinking that if there was a general discussion forum on Thepurists that poker would be a topic. Ever since 2003 poker has exploded and ever since then I have been playing. I didn't start from seeing it on TV it was one of my friends that called me a said come over and play poker. At the time I only knew some basic knowledge of the game. Now and so far not such a good thing I know how to play almost all the various poker games. Of course the most popular being NO-limit holdem because of TV coverage and it's easy to learn the basics of what beats what but there is much more to it. The Internet actually is the biggest factor for the popularity becoming so great anyone anywhere in the world not having to even be 21 to play (since if I'm not wrong gambling in casinos is 21 because of drinking) can get on a computer and download some software and play any game and almost any stakes from play money to tables where blinds are 300/600 dollars more than average people make in a week. Well, I can go on forever on this subject just like watches because If something interests me I seem to try and learn as much as possible and keep on learning new things. I'll just say yes I play poker and actually not old enough to play in AC so I go to TurningStone which is up state, when they have tournaments. So thanks CL for asking and hope you do great at the tables.
About the stricter rule on attire I sorta disagree with everyone wearing what they want it shows something about that person like you said that in the game you play some are wearing AP on their wrist and most likely a dress shirt. Of course I know that sometimes how someone dresses has nothing to do with how much money they have.

it is a roller coster experience.
You get to meet people from different sector of society. The communication can be very interesting and strange.
As for the dressing bit, I'm just thinking maybe all players should have at least a jacket on. It gives the game a better image.
In Paris, they make the members wear a jacket inorder to enter the club. I thought that is a nice touch.
In AC, the players can be quite rude and hostile. Some of the 'kids' there are indeed repulsive in term of their behaviour/ ettique on the table.
It is quite worrisome for the society if this widely popular game is not in better control.
A lot of youngsters who are heavily influence by TV and the media are thinking of becoming a Poker Pro.
They are all 'working' in the casino poker room trying to build their 'bankroll'.
They will play on the weekend till early Monday 5am and then head back to the city to work.
At night, they will go to the illegal local club to play after work and return to work the next day with 2-3 hours of sleep.
That's very scary.

Here in Holland it is a big hype as well. It has quite some coverage on dutch television. Of course they air some international tournaments, which can be rather addictive if you're lying in bed, just one more hand and then I am going to sleep...

But there are also some spin-offs, dutch celebrities playing poker for example. Also a program following two major dutch poker pro's. My feeling is that life as a poker pro is a bit 'empty' though.

Apparantly the pro's have some difficulties dealing with the amateurs that flood the tournaments. It is rather difficult for them to read the newbie's, who are doing some unexpected things from time to time.

I am only playing tournaments with friends, for fun with a low buy-in. It is a really nice way to spend an evening.

I tend to host games for my friends for fun. We play tournament style and the damage is only about $30 per person and
everyone has so much fun. The first to exit the tourny will have to be the next host, providing space, food and wine.

Going to the casino is another entire different experience.
You see some nice gentleman but you also witness some Lousy Losers, drunks and hardcore gamblers , whom I really don't enjoy spending my evening with.
Poker is a bit too addictive and I'm planning to stay away from it for a while ;-)
Watch collecting is more fun.

Over a year ago I was playing with a group of guys on Sunday nights but that stopped when I moved.  Now I just play over the Internet but never for money.  The site I play on gives you three modes to choose from:  Play against a computer for fun or practice; Automatically match you with players of your skill level; Invite a Friend – invite friends from your Messenger Friends list. After you make that choice you choose from the three bidding limits:  Standard Game -  $100 buy-in against 7 other players with gradually increasing blinds; All-In Hold’Em - $100 buy-in against 7 other players and gradually increasing blinds and players are rated; Heads Up Game - $500 buy-in against 1 player and rapidly increasing blinds.  I get to play for free with people from around the world, play tight, have great chats and never have a sleepless night over a costly loss.  It would be fun to have a night when we play poker together on line.  Any thoughts?

WOW, I’ve wanted to pop that question for months but didn’t know if it was appropriate.  How do you suggest we go about setting this up?  Should I publish the website for you and others to preview?  Does anyone else have a preference?
