My favorite writer ever. He wrote about a vintage Heuer in one of his novels.

But I enjoyed a story of his the other day with this vintage Rolex

Love Murakami also

So many great books, with a few more to read.

You’re lucky to have a few left ;)

I’ve thought the same thing

Don’t want to rush through them — too good. You’ll have to explain Hard Boiled Wonderland to me someday!

I have to reread hard’s been a long time. I need to order a copy of it.

Most of his books are mysterious and enigmatic to me

 By: JohnFM : January 15th, 2021-14:19
.. but Hard Boiled especially. It's the one where the chapters go back and forth between the 'real' world of Tokyo and the dream state, including the protagonist's shadow. There is an intersection of these worlds at the end, but it's hard to know what it all means.

Love Murakami. A great escape.

Yes, a wonderful escape, and the elusive meaning keeps me coming back

That’s it exactly.

Always questions, then even more questions.

I know! Even his stories are still mysterious after ten reads. I’m thinking birthday girl and airplane.

Where did you get it if I may ask?

Thanks ! Strap was from Antoine de Macedo in Paris. But may be from a place on Rue Dragon.

I remember the vintage Heuer...

 By: Ruffian : January 12th, 2021-18:29
...That was in Colorless Tzukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage.

What I find interesting is he said he realized he could write novels during a baseball game. And there always seems to be a young girl who gets a mental illness and commits suicide in his novels. He seems obsessed with this character. I've stopped reading him but Wind-up Bird used to be my favourite novel.

Yes, some of the young girls in his books should take care of themselves better!
