Hi All

Ok Friday wrist shots, I posted this on the main thead on the Home forum.. But just in csae you miss it in the thread here it is for all the Omega guys...

Well today I am wearing my 18k yellow gold Seamaster Day-date chronometer.  This watch is powered by the classic caliber 751`.  It is on a oxblood Shell Cordovan strap with a period correct gold plated Omega buckle.

This is the gold-plated version of this beautiful watch, which I recent,y bought from Tim Mackrain (the smaller pics are his). This is just gorgeous.

I don't think my buckle is correct for the period, I am looking for one that would be, and I am wondering where I could find any information on this.

. . . and I think you're right about the buckle - it appears to be of more recent vintage, but I had a similar buckle on my Connie for a short while, which didn't bother me much at all . . . cordially, Art

Will now not admit to owning this at any Purist gathering.

cause this is as nice "from the cosmetics" as the chronometers and it has a beautiful and reliable movement!

After 40+ years it is not for sure if the chronometers keep time within the chronometer range if they were not treated well...

On the other hand a well cared for non chronometer movement may keep time within a sec or two. 

I think many collectors make too much noice about the chronometer rating.

It is an "uncommon" Seamaster version as Bill S. uses to say...

So enjoy your well kept beautiful SM and wear it with pride!

Your Omega is killer !  This model is uncommon in your condition.  The case design is classic and timeless.   The construction of the case is "middle" is milled out of a solid ingot of steel or gold depending on the case material ,  with a heavy screwback case and a Press on bezel ( for crystal retention ).

This one is all work ! and still stunning after 40 plus years..

This was actually my first Omega. Got it from my watchmaker for a ridiculous price and have especially enjoyed that wonderful dial. There was another guy who also wanted the watch, but I got it because he told my guy that as soon as he got it, he was going to have the dial repainted black!
Blasphemy.
It's one of the stars of my collection.

The steel bracelet must make it convenient for summertime wear.  Mine is 18K Pink Gold (solid, not capped) and looks devastatingly gorgeous (said as the proud owner)!  The Connies seem to be somewhat under appreciated but I find wearing this one to be as satisfying as wearing a more contemporary watch.  It wears larger on the wrist than its dimensions would indicate.  My wearing habits seem to come in bursts.  That is, I wear a watch regularly for awhile and then move to another. 

From such a connoisseur of Omegas your interest is appreciated.

Very cool. Also, I think I figured out the Omega versus Rolex thing: Rolex makes jewelry (investment), Omega makes timepiece instruments (real watches).
