SEAMASTER CAL. 333

 I have never posted before but have read many blogs about Omegas. Recently I acquired a Seamaster cal. 333. In trying to determine if the watch was authentic, I could find very little about the 333 in a Seamaster. The Omega’s vintage web site does not list the 333, only the 332 no regulator, and 30.10 RA T1 RG. with special regulator. I know of only one other 333 Seamaster and like my watch has (Omega Seamaster Automatic) only, and no Chronometer printed on the dial both have case numbers of 2515-2. I thought that the dial was a redial. The only true way to determine if a dial has been redone is to remove it from the watch and examine the dial marker tabs. The original dial will still have the splayed out ends where the tabs have been riveted with a punch. My watch has the original riveted tabs with no glue or solder. Also, I had never seen the font used on my Seamaster 333 until I read the post by diamondjim about the Seamaster cal 343. It appears that MSNWatch has the identical font on his Seamaster 343. Both of these Seamasters have the RG special regulator and no Chronometer printed on the dial. I know that Omega did a lot of things that we don’t  know about. It appears to me that they did produce Chronometer grade watches in Chronometer grade cases with Seamaster on the dial and WITH OUT CHRONOMETER printed on the dial. I will try to aid two pictures, one of my watch and the other is from a friend, both are Seamasters with the 333 movement and RG regulators.

Watch has correct case and movement - the cal. 333 was used in case reference 2515 - the stainless steel version of the large centenary case (ref. 2500 which also used cal. 333).  The dial on your watch is a refinished one. 

The dial has been wrongly reprinted.

its a nice case and a nice bumper chronometer movement. i'm sure something can be done about the dial or you can get a replacement.

New concept: reprint

Sorry, I do not understand reprint of a dial. Please explain this process without doing a complete redial. Both watches are 2515-2 Seamasters. The larger picture is of my watch. It has not been redialed. The font is the same as your dial of a Seamaster with the 343 movement and I believe that your dial is also original.

I don't think the cal. 333 came with a dial marked "seamaster" - Bill, correct me if I'm mistaken.  I saw your watch at auction and for the price it went for, it was a good deal even considering the fact that the it is a redial.  The movement was used in the Seamaster line but had dials that did not feature the word "Seamaster" printed on the dial.  Here are pictures of a pair I have - both with original dials contained in the jumbo 36mm screwback seamaster case - one gold cap and the other stainless steel:

Welcome to the forum !!   I just posted a article on the 352 Seamasters...

I have to agree with Mike  the 2515 case ref is a non water resistant snap back case.   For a watch to be a Seamaster it would have to have either a screwback gasketed case or a waterproof snapback case construction.   On this point alone the dial is either a replacement from another watch or the dial was  redialed. and the refinisher used a die that said Seamaster . Either way the way the dial is it is not correct.

The Ref. 2515 is no Seamaster, it is not waterproof either... plain snap back without O-ring gasket.

I also own a Ref 2515 chronometer in SS and there is no "Seamaster" on the dial. My dial is quite patinated - so I assume it is original and never redone (as far as I can tell from my experience).

I assume your dial is a wrong redial (or it was swapped some time ago, which is less likely IMO)
