Coffee with an old friend

 By: Esharp : June 11th, 2021-04:51
After a hard week, taking it easy today before starting a three-day weekend. Popped out for a nitro cold brew sitting outside at my favourite local coffee place before lunch. Quiet and shaded, very pleasant…and feels good wearing this old pal.

It’s on a random strap, so maybe later I’ll take it round to a shop and see what works. Any thoughts / suggestions welcomed!

Any strap suggestions? Semi-shiny brown croc (or calf) seems the obvious thing, but open to other ideas…

I would go for a light brown calf, something discreet to enhance the elegance of the watch. A shiny or semi shiny strap is a bit too much, in my opinion.

Interesting! Hadn’t thought of that. Must look…

The seconds hand is waiting for its authentic replacement when it is next serviced.

Oooh this is nice

The lugs…the large sub-second dial…yum! Love it!

My foggy memory says this topic has come up before . . .

. . . many years ago, Clive.  I'd suggest looking for the seconds hand from now as parts are getting difficult to find.

Thanks to your earlier advice, I bought the then available seconds hand online from USA vendor. It is still in its little packet. Clive

I've just acquired a Horween shell cordovan strap dyed dark brown . . .

. . . that'll be fitted to my next Omega project currently being serviced.  On the plus side: single layer, reasonable cost, fairly thin, pliable and durable.  Minus: no scales, no stitching.

Spending hundreds on custom straps for watches that aren't especially valuable is a luxury I'm going to forego from here on out.

A nice brown calf on this would probably go well. Something I’ll have to check out.
