Chopard

Is there only one face design for this model? Reason I ask is in the latest Revolution I see Strike One with a different face design than the one I see on th Chopard website.

Also, is this a self or manual wind?

Any reason one should not get this time piece?

I cannot comment about the watch you saw becuase I have not seen that magazine issue, but here are some general information.

Chopard LUC seems to issue a Limited Edition of about 100 pieces as their inaugural production for any major model launch. They did this before with 100 pieces of the frist Strike One production as seen in a previous thread click here

Subsequently, they product either regular production models (different dials and metal colours) as well as special editions for favoured dealers. So you may have seen one of the latter versions. The movement is based on the automatic winding mini-rotor LUC 1.96. 

It is a general rule at LUC that their handwind 8-day going movement watches have a power reserve display....so - no power display=automatic LUC.

LUC movements are entirely in-house from the design stage to the purchase of raw gold and brass metal bars to the making of components to the assembly......

If it is as above, then it is the new Titanium casing versus the previous WG.

The titanium casing, the chime is louder than in the WG.

It has transformed to the TECH series exposing more of the movements.
The original WG is a classic design.
This Ti piece, the dial is also of better contrast.

The L.U.C movements are considered in-house (though components like hairspring, mainspring, & jewels are sourced externally) as most of the metal parts are fabricated and designed internally .

The movement 96SHT is clearly a automatic with the solid 22K micro-rotor.

The Ti version is also limited to 100 pieces.

For Singapore the RRP is SGD53,520.

As this Ti is under the 2008 collection, it should be trickling in earliest by  end 3rd Qtr (from previous experience).

Ask your AD to inform you when it arrives.

Hmm.. for the last question, I will ask you to wear your best finished watch and compare to the any of the open-cased of L.U.C.
The best is to pick a Cal. 1.96 (ask AD to show you a TWIST WG , not Tech TWIST) and see if with a loupe above 3X mag and compare with another high-end super brand

... new to the world of horology and I'm afraid I won't be able to tell the subtle differences (or differences to begin with) at all.  Am I reading you hint of quality with Chopard movements?

They are nice movements, indeed ,and Kong is of course right, when he enhances the finish ...

On the 1st prices  watches, the movements are not worst nor better than others...

But, hey, the Striker, my friend, is a very interesting watch...I love one of the competitor, but more expensive than this Striker, the Ulysse Nardin, Hour Striker...

I love this sounding pieces!

I'm going to move for the Lange Datograph flyback first and then have my eye on the Strike 1 Ttanium which will only arrive at my shores in Dec.  I'm just still a tad hesitant not because I am doubting the Dato or the Strike 1 are good watches with lovely movements but more so that I am jumping from the price range of my Glashutte PanoLunar to a Dato.  Big jump for me.
