This little beauty arrived just a few minutes ago. A Jacky Ickx 3rd edition.
It's a used one, naturally and not completely mint, but I don't care because it's beautiful...

With a 24h sub-dial, it is one of the chronographs that shall one day be part of my collection.
May I ask what attracted you to your beautiful Jacky Ickx model?
What do you like most?
Big congrats and wishing you a wonderful time with the new piece.
Best regards,

theaperture,
Here are a few Jacky Ickx 24H Le Mans souvenirs to go with your watch.
The 24-Hour chronograph counter is pretty unique and we asked for it in the L.U.C 1963 Chrono PuristS Edition; alas, it was not allowed!

The L.U.C 1963 Collection was a 50th anniversary "gift" to Mama and Papa Scheufele who took on Chopard in 1963.
Thus, it had design motifs from that era viz. Roman numerals for normal time and Arabic numerals for chronograph displays.
Both the rose gold and steel Chrono versions had to maintain 12-H chronograph counters partly due to heritage but also because the 24-H counter is "reserved" for Jack Ickx (or Mr Le Mans) for his six wins at the 24H of Le Mans. [sigh]
I tried, I pleaded, I cajoled but Mr KFS did not waver.
Also I suspect that as they shared the same base movement, it would have taken too much resource to modify into a 24-H counter.

... but as you know, I let go of the desire some while ago.
Besides any engineering and resource consideration, I would also understand that the 1963 should always be identifiable as such. Therefore, no change to hour counter is understandable.
Thanks for letting us know and best regards,

Just something I've noticed while testing out the functions. The manual that comes with the watch of course covers other models, so I could be mis-reading here. As far as I understand it, Jacky wanted his editions to have a flyback chronograph - I know the edition 4 has one, but I'm not so sure about my edition 3. From what I see in pushing the pushers, it doesn't - I press the top pusher to start the chronograph and a push of the bottom pusher should then reset the counter and start over (at least that's as far as I understand it).
So, what's right for this edition 3? Should it have the flyback or not (or am I just doing it wrong)?
The 3rd edition Chopard’s Jacky Ickx Chrono 6/24 was launched in 2002 and is different from the previous two editions by a large date display at 12 o’clock and luminous hands. It also has 24-H chronograph counter at position 6 o'clock for the first time.

CHOPARD Mille Miglia Jacky Ickx 6/24 Chronograph Mk 3
Jacky Ickx’s signature and two chequered racing flags symbolizing his six victories at the 24H of Le Mans are on the case back. The two flags are also on the dial above the date.
The leather strap has three holes to resemble vintage racing gloves and MoMo steering wheels..
Case: 40.5 mm, stainless steel with Jacky Ickx signature on case back and tachymeter scale on bezel.
There is NO label "Fly-back" on the dial but it has that function. [Editor CORRECTION: This is incorrect. Edition 3 did not have flyback function but it had big date and 24-h chronograph counter]
Movement: automatic Dubois Dépraz Caliber 44560 (based on the ETA 2894-2) with 42-hour power reserve and C.O.S.C. certification
Functions: hours, minutes, seconds; large date, chronograph; 24-hour/second time zone display
Limited Edition: 1,000 pieces in stainless steel and 250 pieces in rose gold.
Price in 2004: was $6,095 for the stainless steel version.
The fly back function button sequence is as you described. Alas - you have a problem...Houston?!? [Editor Correction: No flyback specified]

It should have the flyback function.
[Editor CORRECTION: No flyback function specified for Edition 3.]
[Editor's NOTE: Conversely, Edition 5 is a flyback but that is not printed on the dial either.]
There is no signed version without flyback. it would be suspicious if that was the case.
Hint: Check the horizontal alignment of the pushers and crown; they should be NOT in alignment due to the extra Depraz module added to the base ETA movement.

MTF
