I was not planning to trade or sell my Zenith - it's agreat watch and I weare
it with a leather band. I am looking for a sporty comparable chron with a
steel bracelet. Do you not like either one of the Flyback?

... I dont know why u think Blancpain is a more prestigious brand. Maybe because it has the tagg of being the oldest house? Still IMO breguet is more prestigious as a brand, but that's all relative.
As a watch, i prefer the breguet. I like the dial, and its a very comfortable watch on the wrist. I was about to go for the RG version, but moved to something else.
But if i was u and i hesitate a lot between 2 watches i like, i'd try to remember my 1st impression and the one that impressed me the most. Usually, it works for me

Only one has a column wheel chronograph.

Only one is also used from Vacheron Constantin and from Audemars Piguet.

There are lots of very nice Chronographs with 21.600 or even 18.000, from PP, VC, AP, ALS, ... ;-)

Both watches are nice, but for me it would be clear

It all depends on personal preferences.

terms of accuracy, is it fair to assume that the Breguet movement is more
accurate due to the increased vph?

If the first: I don´t see any problem. We have two BP Chronographs in the family and both are very reliable.



And this one (only 18.000!) isn´t bad also ...



As you can see, I prefer the look and the feeling of a well done column wheel.

If the second: I would buy a (quartz) stop watch ;-)

But as I wrote before, personal preferences. Anyway, I like these kind of luxury problems ;-)

Very interesting...is a 21600 movement inferior relative to a 28800 movement
in terms of accuracy? I like the look and feel of the Breguet better than the
BP; however, the BP watch is $2k less that the Breguet and appears to be a
better value - all things being equal. Funny thing is that the BP is $2k more
expensive based on retail pricing. However, if BP's 21600 (Piguet F185)
movement is inferior to Breguet's 28800 movement (Lemania) then the BP
discount is relative and thus the BP is not such a great buy, right?

Is my thinking/assessment accurate in this regard? I am looking to compliment
my watch collection - I have an Zenith El Primero moonscape Chron, Zenith
Elite Classic - both on leather straps. I also have a David Yurman automatic
that this new watch will replace. My other watches include a Movado, Ebel,
Tag quartz, and an ESQ. I would like this watch to round out my collection
and fill the "elegant sports" void. I will likely have no use for the David
Yurman and some of the other quartz movement watches.

I am open to suggestions. I also want the watch to track date - other watches
that I am considering but rated below the BP and Breguet are as follows:
- IWC Classic Pilot with day and date - it seems to be a very popular
mainstream/mass produced watch. As a result, it was less appeal to me
- Breitling Blackbird - movement and brand seems to be inferior and it does
not have that WOW factor that I am looking for
- Omega:
- Speedmaster Coax Chron - good value but lacks prestige
- Omega Deville Coax Chron - good value but lacks prestige
- Seamaster Aqua Terra Coax (new) - not crazy about the look - the 2009 is
nicer but it is not a Coax movement
- Deville 4 Counters (new) - very nice watch, has everything that I am looking
for but priced at $6k. Not sure this is worth it when compared to the other
watches in this price range.

At the end of the day, I want a nice, elegant watch at a good value.

for an "Elegant Sports" look - just to confuse you more.  They are quite classy.

I looked at at all of these before going for a JLC . . .

From the design of the watch I prefer XX over XXI, but that´s just me.

agree.... the design of the XX is much better than the XXI, especially with the bubble crystal...

But I prefer the size of the XXI...

and preferred the Breguet much more than the BP. Its size, look, and movement where all better than the BP IMO and I've owned both the 38 and 40 mm versions of the Flyback Chrono. Also, I thought the BP looked better on a strap, the watch feels more dressy than sporty IMO.  The XXI is worth going for, good luck with your decision.

for every reason, EXCEPT maybe ruggedness. I remember my XXl had a semi-wiggly crown, which was 'normal' I was told by a few collectors as well as my AD--and this gave the feel/impression of a less than absolutely rock solid chrono. BUt this is a Breguet after all, and I was not exactly climbing Kilamanjaro with it strapped to my spike. Breguet!!! It's gorgeous-er.
