Blancpain

So, my grandfather recently gave me a Gold BlancPain 1735, and he passed away 4 months later. This piece is obviously priceless to me, and I would never sell it. I hope to hand it down to my son someday. However, I know NOTHING about watches, but would love it if one of you experts could share with me anything you may know about this watch, and even a rough approximation of its value. Purely out of curiosity. It's a beautiful watch, and I'm thankful to have this wonderful memory of my grandfather. Thanks in advance for any help or advice! Best, Casey

That's actually not a "1735" as the 1735 refers to a specific model in the Blancpain line. That is what is known as a "complete calendar moonphase" model; again, a great watch.  It tells the day/date/month and moonphase, as well as the time.

Sorry to read about the passing of your grandfather, as you write, the watch is priceless as a memento of memories. Wear and own it proudly.

with an automatic F. Piguet 95# base movement, 19 jewels, 40 hr power reserve, 33.8 mm case, It was probably produced in the late 1980's. t The calendar is a simple calendar meaning you must manually advance the date for months with less than 31 days. .

To set the calendar follow the guidelines on the right. .

What a great watch your grandfather gave you. And you are right, you should always keep such a piece in the family. My grandfather left me a broken pocketwatch, which belonged to his brother. It is very broken and in poor condition, but I love it and will always keep it. Be proud of your watch and try not to keep it in some safe  or drawer but wear it in good health and in memory of your grandfather.
