Is this grade 23 titanium? How does it differ from the more usual grades 2 and 5?

Yes, this is Grade 23.
Colour-wise, I would say it compares to grade 5. There are some other Blancpain watches where the grade 23 is polished and indistinguishable from stainless steel at a first glance. Blancpain have given this Fifty Fathoms a satinated finish which has a soft silky appearance in real life. The effect is most pronounced on the bracelet.
I believe grade 23 is tweak of grade 5, a medical grade that is slightly more ductile so less prone to chipping or cracking
The downside is a marginal reduction in hardness (scratch resistance) but still superior to steel or grade 2
I like that blancpain has so many titanium options.. If anything I would like to see more, it's annoying to have certain dials limited to the steel models and vice versa
What's missing for me rn is a titanium bathyscaphe chrono with the black dial from the ceramic model....
